If you’re anything like us, you’ve been plagued with Halloween costume panic for the last few months. You’ve made countless lists of the year’s biggest newsmakers (read: Miley) and searched high and low for costume-affirming props. If you’re an enthusiast of the howliday, you’re likely already ready. But for those who are relieved to have 9 more shopping days, we’re here to help.

Once again, our Style Panel transforms itself for Halloween giving you both ends of the spectrum from chic to ghoulish. Barbara Anna Solomon of Barbara Ann’s Style Blog playfully channels a Parisian cliché. But hey, it helps that she’s currently in Paris soaking in all the city’s style. On the eerie side, Breakfast at Tiffany’s meets The Walking Dead through Kassandra Camponi of Kastles, who zombifies Holly Golightly. On a lighter note, Kayla Short of Short Presents throws on a blonde wig and a cheeky sense of humour to become Joan Rivers. So as you get ready to be a ghoul or Gaga, a Breaking Bad character or Beyoncé here’s a sneak peek of what our style panel will be wearing this Halloween.

Question 74: With Halloween just around the corner, what will you be wearing? Read the answers now! »

Zombie Audrey Hepburn Kassandra Camponi

Kassandra Camponi, 26
Edmonton | Kastles

If anyone knows me at all, I am a huge Audrey Hepburn fan. My Mom introduced me to her movies at a young age. I have dressed up as Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s before. I thought it would be fun to add a twist to it & turn this look into a zombie. For the costume part of this look, I scouted out Value Village for the dress, tiara and gloves. I borrowed the jewellery from a friend. You could probably find similar pieces at Value Village as well. To create the makeup I enlisted my makeup artist friend Denean Dale to achieve these two looks. The first look is more of a classic look. Denean created a flawless base, a simple cat eye & a pinkish nude lip. For the second look we used a lot of fun crazy make up, fake teeth, gashes & lots of blood. Enjoy! And Happy Halloween!

While travelling I usually spend most of my time examining the culture and fashion of the destination. Sometimes the style of the people living there is different than what you expected. I am currently in Paris and have fallen head-over-heels with the sophisticated and yet simple style of the people. As you walk down the streets it’s easy to identify the effortless style of Parisians from those of the tourists. I will be home on Halloween and likely missing this beautiful city, so I will honour it by dressing like a Parisian cliché, baguette and all. This look is perfect for the office too, as this year we are celebrating on a Thursday. Happy Halloween everyone!

Joan Rivers Halloween Costume Kayla Short

Kayla Short, 26
Halifax | Short Presents

How fun is this Joan Rivers costume? I mean… a blonde wig, the freedom to explore a cheeky sense of humour, and a license to issue fashion citations? Seriously could you die though?

To make my Joan Rivers look complete I basically ransacked my dressing table for all the accessories I could muster up and threw Coco Chanel’s style advice right out the window. I tossed it all on top of turtleneck (as any 80 year old would do) along with a bold red statement blazer and my favourite faux fur stole (you know just because the outfit was lacking something) and then (and only then) was I ready to hit the streets darling for patrol.

I love love LOVE Halloween! Clearly I am no stranger to dressing up, and Halloween just takes dressing up to a whole new level. I can’t wait to see what my fellow panelists come up with for their Halloween costumes!

Kayla’s wearing: Blazer, Envy. Turtleneck, Gap. Faux Fur Stole, Roots. Wide Leg Trousers, Eclipse. Sunnies, Joe Fresh. Wig, Shoppers Drug Mart. Boots, Vince Camuto.

Holly Golightly Halloween Costume Mikki Fox

Mikki Fox, 30
Calgary | Centre Street Style

Halloween is upon us – a night where it is completely acceptable for adults to play dress up. So let’s be honest, what gal doesn’t like a little game of dress up every now and again? When it comes to costumes, don’t be intimidated by the time or cost of piecing together an ensemble. Whether it be 80’s Madonna, Carrie Bradshaw, Cher Horowitz or Holly Golightly, you have the essentials in your closet. For Holly Golightly, a black dress, statement necklace, and long black gloves are the foundation, but it’s definitely the extra details that will take your look from average effort to award winning. I threw in a tiara, cigarette holder, a chocolate Danish and coffee to truly recreate that magic moment from the film. I’ll take the prize behind door number three, thank you very much.

Queen Latifah Halloween Costume Mo Handahu

Mo Handahu, 29
Halifax | Lion Hunter

As a person who’s crazy about the 90s, deciding what to wear for Halloween is almost always based on that marvellous decade. I’m a last minute costume finder so I still have a few more days to figure out what I’m wearing. One Halloween I did go as Her Royal Highness the Queen—Latifah that is. Value Village came to the rescue through a pink tie-dyed pants and top set. The leather and gold studded shoulder detail made me feel like royalty and my DIY’d hat was the perfect crown fit for a queen.

Have a safe and happy Halloween everyone!
