Milan: DSquared, Dolce & Gabbana and Versace Fall 2009

Loved DSquared! Homegrown twins Dean and Dan Caten are both brilliant stylists and DJs—two great ingredients for a witty, wonderful sing-along show. Their motto this season: When times get tuff, enough is never enough.
The girls stalked the runway in a great morning-after, out-all-night mix of old time DSquared faves like cargo pants, plaid shirts, boyfriend jeans and studded Perfectos; all the while slurping from Starbucks cups, smoking and toting tabloids in oversized day bags. A great mix of hi-low and backstage model style. The twins have also been busy working on Britney’s costumes for her upcoming Circus tour!

Leave it to Dolce & Gabbana to sprinkle their front row with major celebs—in town for Vogue’s red carpet extravaganza for the Extreme Beauty in Vogue photo exhibit, sponsored by the design duo. Freida Pinto, Scarlett Johansson, Kate Hudson and Naomi Watts were out in force for a surrealist catwalk chock full of Dolce & Gabbana’s infamous tailoring, long lean silhouettes, gargantuan shoulders, luxe-to-the-max fabrics and furs and a healthy dose of Schiaparelli pink!
With all the bedazzled ’80s club wear I’ve witnessed this week, it seems right to end it with the label that started it all: Versace! Donatella’s show was simply gorgeous, and while studs, safety pins and Day-Glo brights made an appearance, it was fresh, feminine and all grown up.
Tomorrow, I’ll try to hit the Extreme Beauty exhibit along with some heavy hitter showrooms!
