Toronto: Vawk Spring 2010

Held under Frank Gehry’s spiral staircase in the Art Gallery of Ontario’s Walker Court (guaranteed to be the coolest show spot of the week), Vawk designer Sunny Fong’s first post Project Runway Canada show began on a high note with a beautifully tailored white suit complete with nautical-inspired accents. Other stylish spring stars included a selection of vanilla-hued perforated leather pieces. Overall, Fong’s collection showcased lots of innovative designs based on an imaginary trip to French Polynesia, but in some cases (like the line-up of peekaboo fuschia pieces) the execution fell flat. FASHION’s final thought: There are Sunny days ahead.
See the collection after the jump.

I think that Sunny was trying to give us a taste of what he does best, these sculptural cutouts that sit scandalously across the bust (these were some of his greatest pieces and most translatable). he also gave us a preview of this with his Cashmere white Collection, which was a fan favorite. I think for his first F.W attempt he did great.
p.s lets not forget the Erdem story, their first show was a flop (they know show in LONDON)

[...] Vawk, the polynesia inspired looks were amazing :) Favorite pieces: the burning maxi dress, the sheer looks and the perforated leather. [...]
@Adélaïde Beaudouin Sunny really did give us a preview of the collection with his piece for the White Cashemere Collection. That piece was inspiring – such a fine and structural fashion piece out of such an unconventional fabric.
