At the shows
Wrapping up LG Fashion Week

Photography by Angela Y. Martin
Another Toronto Fashion Week is in the can and we took in tons of shows, went backstage, and tracked down the best street style.
Here’s what we saw:
We headed to Greta Constantine in the cavernous basement of a car dealership and scoped out menswear at Philip Sparks and Greta’s little brother, Ezra.
We travelled to French Polynesia at Sunny Fong’s Vawk show, David Dixon took us to the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and Montreal’s Travis Taddeo saw the French Revolution through the lens of an ’80s gym class. Lucian Matis went to the circus with his Roman warrior princesses, Paul Hardy sprouted angel wings and Evan Biddell predicted what you’ll wear for the coming ecological crisis.
There was plenty of party gear this season: Jessica Biffi went to a rave, Jason Meyers partied in ’80s L.A., Andy Thê-Anh had cerulean and champagne wishes and Halifax’s Katrina Tuttle dreamt up garden frocks.
For pieces to work into our every day wardrobes we took in a parade of biker leathers at Rudsak, six stunningly simple dresses at Jessica Jensen, plenty of underwear (or was it outerwear?) at Joe Fresh Style and cool trenches and sporty sequins at Pink Tartan.
We grabbed our video camera to chat with Stephen Wong and Kirk Pickersgill at Greta Constantine, Travis Taddeo, Nada Shepherd, Joe Fresh Style designer Joe Mimran and Vawk designer Sunny Fong.
We also took in some of the backstage action: Saw Jessica Biffi‘s boxy raver-girl hair, got tips on creating beachy look at Joe Fresh, the loud mouth at Pink Tartan and the edgy frizz at Attitude by Sears.
See you next season!
