New York: Donna Karan does chic, textural, basic black

DONNA KARAN Fall 2010. Photography by Peter Stigter
In honour of her brand’s 25th anniversary, Donna Karan’s Fall 2010 collection stays close to her roots–black, black and more black. Karan’s noir homage plays out on the runway by way of spiral-cut layers, embroidered skirts and dresses, textured organza, sculpted evening dresses, laser-cut shearling coats, tweed dresses, crepe legging pants, and the piece that started it all 25 years ago: the jersey bodysuit. The collection was powerful, inspiring and dramatic. It was a story of texture and compelling from beginning to end.
