New York: Ralph Lauren takes a romantic turn for fall

Ralph Lauren, the king of preppy, country luxe is feeling a little romantic this fall. Bordeaux velvet tunics, olive cashmere coats, floral georgette blouses, amethyst silk velvet jackets, cropped shearling vests, wool leggings and Bloomsbury floral gowns are the new essentials for a weekend in the country or a private dinner at the club. As for extras, like the calf leather luggage bags, velvet beaded pouches and crocodile clutches, they are anything but an afterthought. The Ralph Lauren woman chooses her accessories as carefully as she chooses her day wear or evening gown. But judging from the effortlessly chic way that it’s thrown together in the end, one would never know it. Now, that’s great style.
