New York: South by southwest at William Rast
Justin Timberlake and Trace Ayala, the men behind the William Rast label drew a packed house for their Fall 2010 collection. Right from the start the all-American mood was set with a live rock version of the U.S. national anthem. The patriotism continued throughout the runway show with a down home mix of denim (in every wash possible) and Southwest vibe from the oversize gunslinger coats, fringed vests, Navajo blanket ponchos, beaded headbands and coon-skin caps, the latter two over super-tousled hair (courtesy of Thomas Dunkin for Sebastian). Leather played a key role but this time around it was cleverly mixed with other fabrics and textures to create an overall meatier collection than season’s past.
