The last looks Alexander McQueen created before his suicide last month were presented in Paris yesterday. The 16 pieces were “cut on the stand” by McQueen, though the finishing touches were completed by the designer’s team after his death. Gucci Group president and CEO, Robert Polet, told WWD:

“It was a very moving experience to take a deep and serious look at his last collection. It showed Lee’s unique talent to create pieces of beauty that touch many of your senses, leaving one enriched,” Polet said later, after composing himself. Then he added, “Although the sense of loss afterwards, I found overwhelming.”

Lee was an incredible genius. His work was absolutely brilliant. The first time I slipped on a Mcqueen it was clear how much he adored woman. He cut a garment in all the right places giving a girl more then dhe had on her own I own Chanel and Dolce. I love my Stella and Marni. I completely adore my Lanvin. But Lee understood each inch of a woman’s body. It was in the construction. Each piece was a masterpiece I can’t imagine getting dressed without him! He gave us so much R I P
