Joe Fresh Style announced today that Crystal Renn and Kirsten Owen will be the guest models at the brand’s Fall 2010 presentation next week. Booking top models has become a regular feature of the Joe shows. Past presentations have featured Coco Rocha, Irina Lazareanu, and for the Spring 2010 show, Theodora Richards.

Renn, a so-called plus-sized model, has enjoyed a quickly-rising profile as the face of a growing trend of showcasing body types outside of the fashion magazine norm, her 2009 autobiography, Hungry, and for her just plain great work. Canadian model Kirsten Owen was part of the grunge era, appearing in the famous ads for the official fragrance of the mid- to late-’90s, CK One and on the runway at Calvin Klein, Helmut Lang and Yohji Yamamoto.

The company says their aim for this show was to use models of varying backgrounds. Says Joe Fresh creative director Joe Mimran in a press release: “We create clothing for everyone, and know how important it is to show our styles on women of different ages and body types.”

We saw some of this diversity on the Fall 2010 runways at Prada and Louis Vuitton with some slightly curvier (but, make no mistake, still thin) models and at Calvin Klein, who used ’90s faces Kristen McMenamy, Kirsty Hume and Stella Tennant. (And, as many have pointed out, there are Giles and Jean Paul Gaultier, who cast a varied catwalk every season.) It’s good to see this trickling down to the Toronto shows, if only for the treat of seeing Renn and Owen work the runway in clothes you can pick up on a milk run.
