Talk about hitting the ground running. I’ve been in Milan for only a few hours and have already made une petite purchase at Lanvin (the store opened today just in time for my arrival!) perused Prada, Miu Miu and Marni (my holy trinity) and am now surreal-y sipping champers waiting for Gucci to start! Tough job but someone’s gotta do it. I’m in hyper mode and beyond thankful that the airplane gods granted me 3 seats across and I actually for the very-first-time ever slept on the flight over. The usual suspects are here, the sun is shining brilliantly (an anomaly for this time of year in Milan) so… let the games begin!

Dare I say it? Was there a whiff of Tom Ford in the Gucci collection? Luscious dark lacquered lips, luxe furs, and a decadent late ‘70s feel⎯made for a gorgeous show⎯layered to the nines and definitely NOT for the minimalist at heart! No body part was spared an accessory, from the feather-trimmed fedoras to the square frame specs right down to the tips of the tall chocolate boots. In between were layered silk bow blouses, peaking out from underneath jackets and cardigans, chain necklaces, gauchos, luxe leathers, long slinky, silky dresses and not one but two handbags at a time (one long strapped shoulder style and the other, a short boxy hand held). The biggest star of the show was the fur. It topped off almost every look and came dyed in brilliant blues, greens, reds and purples, dripping with pom poms and decadence. How do you say divine in Italian?
