Christopher Bailey wins big and Karen Elson takes a fall at the British Fashion Awards

The British Fashion Awards were held in London last night. Christopher Bailey and Burberry were honoured twice: Bailey for British Designer of the Year and his label for Best Designer Brand. During his speech, Bailey announced that he would be showing the Prorsum collection in London again for the fall shows in February. While we were crossing our fingers for the Canadian talent on the nominees list–Mark Fast for emerging ready-to-wear talent and Todd Lynn for Best Menswear Designer–those awards went to Peter Pilotto and Kim Jones for Dunhill, respectively. (Don’t feel too bad for Fast–dressing Julia Restoin-Roitfeld on the red carpet was a win of another kind.)

Other winners include Christopher Kane for British Collection of the Year, Georgia May Jagger for Model of the Year. Special awards went out to Kate Moss, who took home the London 25 award–a people’s choice honour for the most influential person in London fashion–and Grace Coddington, who was presented the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator by fellow redhead Karen Elson. (But not before Elson and her red velvet Alexander McQueen gown fell four feet into the orchestra pit. She’s okay.) [Telegraph, Guardian, Glamour UK]
