Do the shoes on the left look familiar? An intrepid commenter on Fashionista has uncovered the secret source of Alexander McQueen’s alien footwear—a video for ’70s rock band The Tubes’ “White Punks on Dope.” [Fashionista]

André Leon Talley smack talks Golden Globes style: “When you start watching red-carpet shows at 6:00 p.m. and don’t see a stunning dress until 9:00 p.m. — Julianna Margulies’s ruby paillette crepe robe de style with cutouts, by Narciso Rodriguez — it’s sad what passes for style in Hollywood.” [Vogue, via The Cut]

In case you haven’t gotten enough of an earful already about celebrity designers invading Fashion Week, the Kardashian trio will be showing their Bebe line at NY Fashion Week. [The Cut]

Marc Jacobs and Nathalie Rykiel are being honoured by the French government, both as Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres,(Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters), for their contributions to the fashion industry. The designation ceremony will take place during Paris Fashion Week. [WWD]

Louise Goldin has been announced as the winner of the British Fashion Council’s annual talent support scheme, Fashion Forward. For the next two seasons, the designer will receive sponsorship to show at London Fashion Week in February and September. [Vogue UK]

  • I’m not much of a pack rat, but I do have a bunch of original buttons from the late 70s that we used to pin onto our punk rock jackets. One says “White Punks on Dope” in black and white, and another says “White Dopes on Punk” in white and black.

Everything old is new again, huh?

  • Harry says:

Holy crap, I thought the feet in the “shoes” in the photo on the left belong to a cripple… the mike stand looks kind of like a foot of a walker-cane… and my guess is, if you wear these kind of shoes, you will soon need such a cane. These “shoes” are awful. I have one question: did Mr. McQueen even TRY to walk in them?
