Walking, the high tech way

Need a little motivation to get your body moving? Nintendo may have just the answer for you, with their new Personal Trainer: Walking game ($60, futureshop.ca) which aims to turn all of your daily movements into an interactive and fun experience. Designed for the Nintendo DS system, the game comes with two activity meters (you can register up to four with the game) that track your walking habits. When placed in your pocket or purse, these handy, pint-sized gadgets then sync up, wirelessly, with the DS system, where your daily rhythms are displayed in visual form through graphs and charts. The game easily allows you to set walking goals and to up the level of interactivity, users can import their own Mii characters from their Wii console or create one from scratch. Though maybe not as grueling as a session with a real personal trainer, the game may offer just the right amount of motivation many of us need to get outside more often.
