To my holiday honeys

Even before I could bid adieu to my summer tote, my first holiday invitation arrived: a preview of the Gap Holiday 2006 collection in New York City. Ah, those three little words–New York City. They make a girl want to kick up her Choos and celebrate. I suddenly felt fabulously festive and RSVPed “yes.” I would be there with bells on.
With visions of cashmere and cable-knit dancing in my head, I jetted to NYC armed with my travel essentials: passport, greenbacks, sunglasses and a favourite scarf. The collection, presented by Cynthia Harriss, the president of Gap, proved to be a winter wonderland of all things haute holiday. Cropped puffer vests, metallic bags and fuzzy sherpa-lined hoodies will definitely heat up any fashionista’s aprés-ski look. Perfect for this season, this chalet chic is on trend for the stylish snow set–skiers or not. After all, a true ski bunny knows the only black diamonds that really matter are found on the hands–not the hills.
Back on Canadian soil with lots of new ideas and style inspiration from my trip (and a purchase or two from Barneys New York), I felt renewed and refreshed. I guess Bill Blass was right when he said, “Sometimes the eye gets so accustomed that if you don’t have a change, you’re bored. It’s the same with fashion, you know. And that, I suppose, is what style is about.”
