Haute for the holidays

When it comes to making an entrance (or an exit) at any posh holiday party, chicettes everywhere turn to the Fab Five:
- The LBD (little black dress)
- The bold cocktail ring
- The hot shoe
- The statement bag
- The mini “glam” slam (polish, primp, perfume)
Don’t be the strife of the party–plan your outfit in advance to avoid becoming a part of this fashionista folk tale…
‘Twas the night before Christmas when I looked in my closet aghast,
“What exactly had I worn to holiday parties in the past?”
My dresses were hung on padded hangers with care,
But not one LBD seemed to be there.
With the party less than two hours away,
I needed a dress, so I began to pray.
Within 10 minutes, I arrived at Holt Renfrew in a cab,
And so began the frantic search for something trés fab!
Away to the racks I flew like a flash,
Threw on the first dress and did up the sash.
The fit was superb, but I had to say no,
For the hefty price tag filled me with woe.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But an LBD sale rack that I saw in the mirror.
With a rack full of frocks from which I could choose,
This chicette felt that she just couldn’t lose.
Into the fitting room I went with the clothes,
To try on the fashion names that every gal knows.
Zip up Prada, zip up Gucci, zip up Pucci and LV,
On Chanel, on Oscar, on Burberry and Marni.
From the top of my head to the tip of my toe,
Where is the LBD that will make this girl glow?
With time running out, up to the counter I flew,
“I need something festive, something sparkly and new.”
And then in a twinkling, the saleslady brought out a dress,
Black with a bubble skirt–it was a stylish success.
As I drew in my breath to look at the tag,
I realized with glee, it was in this month’s FASHION mag.
With garment bag and receipt in hand, I hurried back to my place,
To finish off the girl’s “get ready” ritual–the hair and makeup race.
I arrived at the house, arms filled with my gifts,
Wearing my new LBD, I felt very Audrey, very Breakfast at Tiff‘s.
And when the door opened and I stepped inside the fab féte,
I thought to myself, this is your best holiday look yet.
And finally when the champagne, petit fours and chic elite came into sight,
I smiled, for I knew this was to be a fashionably festive good night.
Happy holidays to fabulous chicettes everywhere!
