Vancouver shop talk: Diplomatic Immunity

It was good timing when I discovered Diplomatic Immunity (2956 Granville St., 604-734-0060) a few months ago, before I left on vacation for Spain. Purveyors of very-travel-friendly clothing (think lightweight, wrinkle-free fabrics), the fall collection is perfect for Vancouver’s mild weather—not surprising, considered the company is headquartered here and co-designed by company owner Marousa Dumaresq and Elise Barraly, who trained in Paris and worked as a designer in Belgium before moving to Vancouver two years ago. Look for a mix of one-third men’s and two-thirds women’s pieces that are almost entirely produced locally from eco-friendly textiles such as organic cotton, soy and bamboo, and best yet, more stores to open up in the next few years.

I wouldn’t say “boring” as much as wardrobe staples / basics :)

If money were no object … if only! However, a girl can dream, right?

I think the clothes at Diplomatic Immunity show some attitude and strong presence. They are beautiful, simple and original.

I had young hot women following me around all summer whenever I wore my DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY white safari jacket with a cowboy hat and shades. They said they thought I looked like Bono.

Now I understand why women are so into fashion.

Besides which, DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY has 2 of the sexiest store owners this side of Milan. So I like going there.
