Calgary-based graphic designer and illustrator Morgan Mallett founded Design + Conquer in 2008. For fall, she was inspired by ’80s movies such as The Neverending Story (which I watched about four times after I discovered it in my early teens) and electronic music group Telefon Tel Aviv. The pieces in the two main collections, Mainframe and Kilobyte, are handmade from custom-fabricated plastic polymers; to me, the opaque gold-coloured Vector earrings ($64) look like sci-fi honeycombs.
