Canadian Thanksgiving falls in early October and is more about the pies and the turkeys than anything else. For Americans, Thanksgiving also translates to over-eating and pie, but also comes with a side of super sales— both online and in-store.
Black Friday 2012, which falls on November 23 this year, is a day that has become known for extreme markdowns, with department stores including Target, Macy’s and Best Buy starting as early as midnight or 4am. For those afraid of being stampeded for a dress, Cyber Monday is more your speed—it’s when the sales from Black Friday hit the Internet, creating some major deals.
Though the Black Friday craze has mainly been targeted to shoppers in the United States, Canadian retailers seem eager to take part. As for Cyber Monday, many retailers ship to Canada and even Canadian online sites will be participating too.
And because we have never been known to turn down a sale, we will help you out with a constantly updated guide of places to shop on Black Friday and Cyber Monday in Canada. It’s the perfect time to start holiday shopping, so let the madness commence.

Urban Outfitters
Urban Outfitters has marked down a whole lot of its stock online and in store. Save on all kitschy house wear accessories or the perfect New Years dress that Urban Outfitters has to offer. And even better, they will be offering 50 per cent off all sale items in store. Win!
UPDATE: Urban Outfitters will be giving free shipping for five whole days if you spend over $100!
Gap
Gap is taking 60 per cent off of the entire store’s selection starting November 20. What America calls Black Friday; Gap has renamed ‘Bright Friday’ and will be offering an assortment of striped and solid t-shirts for men and women—all for $10 on the 23rd. The days after Bright Friday will feature sweaters marked down to $19.
The Bay
The Bay will be kicking off its sales on Friday, November 14 (one week before Black Friday). They will be featuring flash sales on everything that the store has to offer, and will update its Facebook page so shoppers can get an idea of what the deal of the day will be. As well as having a week of sales, on Black Friday, it will be opening certain locations at 7 am AND there will be online sales. Ten days of deals in total!
Amazon.ca
Amazon.ca sells just about everyone under the sun and they are counting down to Black Friday and Cyber Monday by offering daily deals online. If you don’t know where to start, check out our gift guide, which has plenty of items from Amazon.
The Body Shop
The Body Shop will have a daily deal starting on November 19th culminating in a must-have offer on Black Friday, while supplies last. With five solid days of savings, you could probably knock off a few holiday gifts from your list.
eLuxe
The more you spend on eLuxe.ca, the more you’ll save. Starting the sales on Wednesday and continuing straight on til Monday eLuxe will be offering major discounts. Spend $250 take off $50, spend $2000 take off $500. You get the picture.

Cadillac Fairview Malls
There will be an Ontario-wide participation of Black Friday sweeping through the province on November 23. Participating malls included are Fairview Mall, Markville, Promenade, Masonville, Shops at Don Mills, Sherway Gardens, Limeridge, and Fairview park, which will all open their doors at 7am for those who are ready to get their shop on before work. The Toronto Eaton Centre will be opening even earlier—at 6 am—for overly eager shoppers willing to take part of one of the biggest shopping days of the year.
Vaughn Mills
Vaughn Mills is not only boasting sales of up to 80 per cent off from a selection of 250 retailers, but they will also be providing a shopping shuttle to get to said sales. Departing from Toronto’s Union Station at 7am, 10am, and 1pm, the buses will take shoppers to the mall whose hours have been extended from 8am-9pm. That gives shoppers plenty of time to search the mall high and low for the best deals.
Victoria’s Secret
Shoppers at Victoria’s Secret who spend more than $65 on bras, underwear, lingerie or beauty products will be gifted a sparkly pink tote bag filled with beauty essentials. You too can feel like an angel, just in time to watch the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show that airs on December 2.

Everything that Old Navy has to offer will be on sale on November 23 as well as door buster deals on winter coats, denim, and t-shirts.
