Nothing brightens up the week quite like an impromptu appearance by the Duchess of Cambridge! The Queen held her first garden party of the year today at Buckingham Palace and low and behold, Kate Middleton was there, along with her in-laws, Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, and hundreds of other guests.

Considering that many a garden party style guide is based on Kate’s year-round wardrobe choices, it’s basically mandatory that she attend. (Okay, it’s not, but we’re not the only ones who would be disappointed if the garden party went Middleton-less.) Last year Kate wore a pastel-pink pleated Emilia Wickstead dress and this year she stuck with the same designer, though changing up the colour and style. Read more »

The Cannes Film Festival is not only an event to premiere new films, it’s also a time to celebrate the timeless films. In commemoration of Cleopatra’s 50th anniversary, many stars, including Jessica Chastain and Milla Jovovich, attended a special edition screening of this classic film last night. Though the two starlets dressed in very different looks (dark versus light, lots of skin versus completely covered), both of these ladies bewitched every single camera in their own glamorous way.

Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain may have been the luckiest girl on the Cannes red carpet. The co-host of the Cleopatra screening donned a Bulgari diamond and sapphire necklace and a matching ring that was given to Elizabeth Taylor by Richard Burton as a token of his love. Looking every bit as regal, Chastain allowed her exquisite jewellery to take the spotlight and opted for a simple, long sleeve ivory Versace gown from the Spring 2013 collection, paired with nude platform heels. With finger waves and side-swept hair, Chastain dazzled the red carpet with her natural beauty. Read more »

The 66th annual Cannes Film Festival is underway and the never-ending parade of red carpet dresses certainly makes it one of the top sartorial events of the year. As a twelve-day film festival that hosts multiple parties, photo calls and premieres each day, A-list stars and international icons bringing their best looks to the French Riviera. To help keep track, we’re rounding up the top looks from the Cannes 2013 red carpet so far—and we’ll keep adding more as the festival continues.

Arguably the most anticipated movie of the year, The Great Gatsby, had its European premiere at Cannes last week—and the red carpet was filled with outfits just as glamourous as the film itself, including Cara Delevingne’s sultry Burberry laced ensemble and Carey Mulligan’s Dior Couture gown.

Meanwhile, Emma Watson turned heads last week at the premiere of her latest film, The Bling Ring, in a stunning Chanel gown. Earlier in the day, the wizard-turned-fame-obsessed-teen (that is, on screen!) showed off an equally stunning burgundy ensemble by Christopher Kane. Read more »

It’s only day three of the 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival and the glamour just keeps on coming. In keeping with the trends we saw throughout this year’s award season, many shades of champagne are coming down the Cannes red carpet. Standing out from the set are two raven-haired stars, Eva Longoria and Rooney Mara. Donning different styles of form-fitting gowns at their respective Cannes events, both of these leading ladies flaunted their amazing figures and classic beauty on the red carpet.

Though she was not the star of today’s premiere of Le Passe (The Past), Eva Longoria definitely knows how to make an entrance at the Grand Palais at Cannes Film Festival. As one of the brand ambassadors of L’Oréal Paris, Longoria looked every bit of a golden girl in a heavily embroidered gold gown by Zuhair Murad, from the Spring 2013 Couture collection. Complete with a floor-sweeping train and a low cut back, the ex-Desperate Housewives actress gracefully worked the red carpet showing off her toned back (and her Celtic tattoo!) while posing for the cameras. Allowing her intricately designed dress to steal the spotlight, she finished off her look with cat eyes and neutral pink lips, with her hair tied back in a low ponytail. Read more »

It’s the second day of the Cannes Film Festival and the glamour continues on the red carpet with the premiere of Sofia Coppola’s film The Bling Ring. Though Emma Watson does not play the main character of the film, she definitely took centre stage turning heads today at her first Cannes 2013 event. Donning two different outfits for day and night, the Brit actress effortlessly pulls off both her looks.

At The Bling Ring photo call earlier today, Emma Watson, who showed no signs of her alter ego Nicki, wore a burgundy outfit by Christopher Kane, which consisted of a burgundy crop top with feather trimmings and a matching skirt from Kane’s Fall 2013 collection. Watson showcased her natural beauty by keeping her makeup at a minimal and hair tied back in a neat bun. She finished off the look with a pair of sky-high black suede stilettos.

It may have been pouring on opening night of the 66th annual Cannes Film Festival in France but no natural condition could dampen the glamour of this event. Kicking off with the European premiere of The Great Gatsby, celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio, Cindy Crawford, Nicole Kidman, and Frida Pinto (with their umbrella holders in tow) graced the glamorous carpet.

Changing out of her menswear-inspired strapless Balenciaga jumpsuit from the photo call earlier in the day, Gatsby star Carey Mulligan gave us major Gwyneth at the Oscars in an iridescent pale pink princess gown by Christian Dior. Pairing the look with Tiffany & Co. drop earrings and a statement red lip, Mulligan swapped her typically pinned back hair in favour of a middle-parted straight down-do. Read more »

Giuliana Rancic talks motherhood, mastering the work-life balance and who looked best the Met Gala

Giuliana Rancic Mothers Day Interview

In anticipation of Mother’s Day this Sunday, we had the chance to talk with TV personality, fashion designer and new mother Giuliana Rancic. In midst of her busy schedule (co-hosting Fashion Police and E! News are just two of her weekly gigs) Rancic was happy to share tips on balancing time between her hectic career and her family (including her 8-month-old son Duke) while also offering up some always helpful style advice.

Separate work life from home life. Finding it hard at first to balance motherhood with her career, Rancic realized she was not giving her full attention to either: “What I do now is that when I’m at work, I’m 100 per cent focused on work. I return all my emails. I don’t just sit there and surf on the internet like before. And when I’m at home, I would focus 100 per cent on Duke and put the phone away… that way I would feel a little more of a balance.” Read more »

Winona Ryder: The iconic actress talks about her full-circle ride into fame in her 40s

Winona Ryder Interview

When Winona Ryder speaks, there is defiance in her voice that sounds earned. “I don’t want to do the crazy thing and try to hold onto my youth,” she says while promoting her latest film, The Iceman, at the Toronto International Film Festival. “And I don’t want to work just to work, either. At this point in my life, I just want to be a good person. I’m 40, and I’m psyched, because with age comes experience. I’ve paid some dues and had some ups and downs.”

Ryder’s story started with a childhood spent on a commune with hippie parents and quickly led to her discovery by director Tim Burton, who cast her in the film Beetlejuice. Stellar reviews and a relationship with heartthrob Johnny Depp followed—Who could forget his “Winona Forever”-turned-“Wino Forever” tattoo?—as well as Oscar nods for Little Women and The Age of Innocence and a genre-defining role in Reality Bites. Blockbuster flops were the precursors to Ryder’s now-infamous shoplifting scandal, and she signed on to do a few indie flicks before officially resurfacing in the Oscar-winning Black Swan.

“In the ’90s, I experienced a lot of success, and to be honest I wasn’t expecting it to last. You’re told that you get a couple of years if you’re lucky. It was great, but it came with a lot of pressure,” Ryder reflects. “I wasn’t like, ‘Boo hoo, poor me,’ but I realized that I want a home and I want to spend time with my family and friends. It takes something very special for me to want to leave that now.”
