Partying on the Mink Mile

There’s no better way to celebrate the slightly warmer weather than with the reopening of two of our favourite high-enders on Bloor Street. First off was Gucci (130 Bloor St. W., 416-963-5127), where revellers sipped champagne cocktails and mingled among the mass amounts of haute accessories. (We couldn’t get over the flats made for the tiniest of tots). The new store is all luxe.
Spotted here: TIFF co-director Cameron Bailey, David Livingstone, social sisters Amy Verner and Jane Apor, Jeanne Beker, Bustle Clothing’s Shawn Hewson and Ruth Promislow, MuchMoreMusic’s Traci Melchor, ETalk’s Tanya Kim, socials Suzanne Rogers and Stacey Kimel and Toronto Fashion Incubator co-chair Mary Symons.
In these tough times, charity is on everyone’s minds and being as giving as ever, 10% from all Gucci sales at the event (through to April 9) went to Dignitas International, an HIV/AIDS foundation.
With our high heels clicking across the Mink Mile, our next destination was the just reopened Cartier (131 Bloor St. W., 416-413-4929) boutique. Thankfully unscathed from a break-in earlier this year at the temporary Cartier shop around the corner, the Haute Joaillerie Collection was on display alongside the always stunning Tank watches and shimmering diamonds, and of course, more champagne. Canadian Idol’s Jake Gold and his wife Leesa Butler were seen mixing with Beker, Anwar Mukhayesh from The Designer Guys, Zoomer’s Suzanne Boyd, The Star’s Derick Chetty, gorgeous Holt Renfrew girls Natalie Lecomte and Moira Wright and lovely Escada boy James Ly.
With no expense spared (the food and the jazz band were phenomenal!), one of our fashionable conversation comrades pointed out, “Even in a recession, it’s always nice to look at pretty things.”
