In the East End (a term I use for the Gastown/Crosstown/Chinatown—and farther east—trifecta),
Calabash is an artsy-cool Caribbean-themed restaurant from foodie trio Sam Willcocks, Roger Collins, and chef Cullin David (who cut their teeth at Cassis, Chambar, and Provence Marinaside, respectively). A good Friday night to me consists of chowing down on marinated oxtail and dumplings and ginger plantains with a side of jerk aioli upstairs, then heading downstairs for music, drinks, and art—and the occasional dance party.
