Edmonton rolled out its red carpet last week for the city’s biggest fashion event of the year—also one of the largest fashion fundraisers in Canada—the 15th Annual Fashion with Compassion breast cancer fundraiser. Over 700 guests wined, dined, and bid on auction items, while models and breast cancer survivors from the Compassion House walked the glowing white runway. The show featured clothing and accessories from local retailers, and closed with stunning couture gowns from New York’s Michael Kaye.

In previous years, Alberta’s Tricia Helfer and Meghan Collison have returned home to participate, but this year doll-faced supermodel (and Calgary native) Heather Marks flew in specifically for the event. Fresh from the Givenchy Spring 2012 show in Paris, Marks said backstage, “I was supposed to be back in New York for work, but Mode [Models] called me… and it’s for such a great cause, and I believe in good karma.” And after seeing the turnout at this year’s event, so do we.
