To mark the National Ballet of Canada’s 60th anniversary, Canadian artists, designers and community groups have come together to pay a very fitting homage to the company’s milestone with an exhibit of 60 unique tutus.
Some of Toronto’s finest got a sneak peek of the aptly named The Tutu Project at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts last night, where everything from a black feather creation by Giles Deacon on loan from the English National Ballet to a “Tutu Cozy” by the Hudson’s Bay Company (complete with the Canadian retailer’s signature stripes) were debuted. New creations and tutus from great moments in ballet history were all on hand.
The evening kicked off the beginning of a preview week for ticket-holders of the company’s Summer Mixed Program.
