Beyoncé: Life is but a Dream premieres tomorrow. Here are 7 reasons why you may cry through the whole thing

I’ve yet to meet someone who doesn’t think Beyoncé is the bees knees. She’s sold countless records, won every award, sung for the President, performed at the Super Bowl, but then again so have many pop artists. They call her the hardest working woman in showbiz, but that’s not the reason they call her Queen Bey either—it’s that aside from supreme octave and hip-thrusting abilities, she’s managed to stay above it all. The importance she’s placed on privacy and keeping it classy that has earned her regal bragging rights. It’s also what has helped her remain relatively unscathed for over 12 years of being in the public eye. To boot, she’s managed to stay married to another of pop’s biggest stars, Jay-Z, sans unseemly consequences.

For the first time in all those years, we’re being let inside the life and mind of Beyoncé with the premiere of her documentary Beyoncé: Life is But a Dream on HBO/HBO Canada. The self-directed stunner bleeds 90-minutes of raw emotion and power through spellbinding all-angle performance footage, self-filmed video diaries, private vacation home videos and more. And while Jay-Z, Blue Ivy, Michelle Williams, Kelly Rowland and Solange make their select appearances, it’s all about Bey. It’s like her Tumblr’s come to life and I swear, from personal experience, you won’t be able to keep a dry eye.

Here are some things that had me especially intrigued/verklempt:

She doesn’t just want mainstream appeal:
Though she’s attained one of the brightest shining names in lights, she wants to remain an artist. In the midst of recording her most recent album 4, she says to the camera, “I want to be able to sing about how much I hate myself that day, if that’s how I feel,” she says. “Forget being cool, I’m gonna be honest…If I’m scared, be scared.”

She talks to her computer when no one’s around:
Much of the self-filmed footage featured in Life is But a Dream was filmed by Beyoncé herself, while in bed, in the car, on the beach, and even in the elevator. Can’t get any more personal than that.

She’s like a sage:
Admittedly, famous people always seem to have a lot of opportunities to philosophize about life, but Beyoncé doesn’t waste them. “Ultimately, your happiness comes from being yourself and knowing who you are.” K.

She was pregnant during her epic Billboard Music Awards performance:
Before this year’s Superbowl, the 2011 Billboard Music Awards was probably Beyonce’s most blockbuster performance to date. Her moves were so over-the-top incredible that we couldn’t believe anyone could do them, let alone someone in their first trimester of pregnancy.

She had a miscarriage before becoming pregnant with Blue Ivy:

She really loves Jay-Z:
“Our relationship works because we were friends first,” she says, while home video footage is shared of the couple serenading each other with Coldplay’s “Yellow” in a beautiful European looking city. If this relationship ever ends I don’t what I’ll do.

She really loves women (and god):
“This is what god made me for,” she says of motherhood. “I’m here because of my grandmother’s prayers, and Blue Ivy’s here because of my mother’s prayers.” Also, “I love my husband, but there’s nothing better than a conversation with another woman.”
