As if Season 3 wasn’t tragic enough, we were dealt one final blow on Sunday night’s Downton Abbey finale. For the second week in a row, we were rushed through two heavily packed episodes full of drama for both the upstairs and downstairs crews. Thomas was vindicated, Mrs Patmore was proposed-to, Branson was seen topless, Mary had a baby…and then something else happened. And while we’ll leave spoilers until after the click-through, let us just ask: Why can’t characters be written off the Brenda Walsh way?

*SIGH* Another long wait until I get my Downton fix again. At the beginning of series 3, I was convinced that Edith would marry the ailing senior gent, who promptly meets his maker after the nuptials. As a result, Edith would inherit his sizable estate and with this new found wealth & power she would save and buy out Downton, rubbing it in sister Mary’s face once and for all! Really. But I’m quite impressed by her character development and sartorial choices this season. She gets her redemption after all:) And I’m going to go buy a head scarf. See you next season!

That would have been a great plot as well! And I agree, Edith’s gone a long way from the dowdy spinster to working girl in control! Thanks for keeping along with us.
