You guys! It’s happening! Or it’s about to, at least. Maybe. After over a week of anxious anticipation, it looks like Kate Middleton has finally gone into labour! After it was mistakenly reported that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had left the Middleton family home by helicopter, David H. Brown, a journalist with The Times tweeted that in fact, the duo had left by car. We’re currently creeping on The Sun’s live webcam and will update you of the next developments outside the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in London!

2:49pm: David H. Brown is now reporting that armed police have returned to the Middleton home in Bucklebury. False alarm or just extra protection at the house while the family is in London?

Saturday July 20

9:40am: After yesterday’s false alarm, it looks like the confusion is being chalked up to the police arriving to the Middleton home to help with a pet related emergency. The Mirror is reporting that Lupo, Kate and Will’s dog, had gotten his head stuck in a gate.

Monday July 22

6:00am: Guys! It’s official! Clarence House has confirmed via Twitter that Kate was finally in labour by tweeting “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London in the early stages of labour” and then: “The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge” at around 2:30am EST. How’s that for Monday morning news? As we anxiously await the outcome of the natural birth, so too do the Royal family, the Middleton family and the British Prime Minister David Cameron, all who will updated of the gender before the public. Meanwhile, E! News has a look inside St. Mary’s Hospital’s Lindo Wing, where Kate is right now.

9:40am: While the media’s attention seems fixated on St. Mary’s Hospital’s Lindo Wing, tourists and well wishers have gathered en masse outside Buckingham Palace to await the official notice of the baby’s gender. In keeping with tradition, the baby’s gender will be revealed by paper notice outside the palace, though for the first time in Royal history, a tweet will be released simultaneously.

10:45am: Queen Elizabeth II has returned to Buckingham Palace to await news of her great grandchild with a big cheer from the crowd according to BBC journalist Jane Hill.

11:45am: The two photographers who broke the news that Will and Kate had arrived at St. Mary’s this morning are being praised for their decision to not photograph the Duchess as she entered the hospital. The London Evening Standard reports: “She’s a woman in labour. I just wanted to photograph the commotion and convoy of cars. That was a personal decision we both made. To take a picture of her would have been over stepping the mark.” E! News, on the other hand, has posted a photo of the convoy of cars arriving this morning. However, neither Will or Kate are visible.

Meanwhile, Prince Charles is currently in the middle of a royal engagement in York and has made some candid remarks about the long wait for the Royal Baby: “I’m very grateful indeed for the perfectly kind wishes about my rather slowly-approaching grandfatherhood.”

3:30pm: It’s a boy! It’s a boy! After around 10 hours of labour, Kensington Palace has announced the arrival of a healthy 8 pound 6 ounce Prince of Cambridge at 4:24Ppm London time. Congratulations well in order for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge! The announcement comes as a change of the original plan, which was to announce the baby’s gender on an easel in front of Buckingham Palace before it was released via press release. Happily for us, this was not the case. Ah! It’s a boy! The Great Kate Wait has finally come to a close. Pop that champers! Weeeeee!

4:00pm: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s official website has been updated with the news of the Prince’s arrival. Most significant: “The names of the baby will be announced in due course.” As for now, the little one is His Royal Highness Prince [name] of Cambridge.

4:24pm: A scan of the official statement has been released, see below!
