Despite the fact that William and Harry are also Olympic ambassadors, it’s no surprise (to us, at least!) that Kate Middleton is the most popular royal at various London 2012 celebrations. Yesterday she took part in her first medal ceremony, presenting the gold for men’s discus. And because Kate always knows how to dress the part, she ditched her usual Team GB uniform for a more official-looking outfit. Read more »

Pictures from today’s Paralympic events brought back all the Olympic joy we’ve been missing these past few weeks—joy which includes the return of Prince William and Kate Middleton having the time of their royal lives. Our excitement over their lovey-dovey cheering of athletes was so great that it inspired the creation of FASHION’s first animated gif. (We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!) We’re gearing up for another blast of Kate-does-Sporty-Spice sightings, with the Paralympic Games underway this week. As an official ambassador for the games, Kate is scheduled to attend a handful of events over the next few days and while we’re assuming there will be an abundance of patriotic polo-wearing, Kate’s spared us for now, with this first shot of her in a golden Day by Birger et Mikkelsen coatdress at yesterday’s opening ceremony, the same she wore to the wedding of Zara Phillips as well as to another in 2006. As for the accessories, Kate’s donning her tried and true nude patent LK Bennett “Sledge” pumps as well as her gold Wilbur and Gussie envelope clutch. Stay tuned, kids!

Natalia Vodianova Paralympic Ambassador

On the heels of the London Olympics closing ceremony “Team Supermodel,” Russian beauty Natalia Vodianova will run the final 130 meters of the Paralympic torch relay later this afternoon. The event, which takes place along London’s Surrey Docks, kicks off Vodianova’s role as ambassador of the Sochi Winter Games in 2014 which will take place in her home country of Russia. In light of the event, Vodianova took to Facebook earlier in the day, writing: “As an ambassador of Sochi-2014, I am focusing my efforts to raise awareness specifically towards Paralympic Games. I am delighted that in London this year Paralympians are the center of Media and public attention.  They are my new role models of strength, determination, and Olympic spirit.”

Since Gabby Douglas made Olympic history as the first African-American and the third U.S. gymnast ever to win the all-around gold, her hair has also been making headlines. While we still don’t understand why viewers took to social media to call out the pint-sized 16-year-old for having unkempt hair (her bun looked just as slick as her teammates’ updos!) today the story gets a little better: Douglas got a gold medal-worthy haircut from celebrity stylist Ted Gibson.
