New York: Alexander Wang’s deconstructed banker

Alexander Wang was definitely the hot ticket yesterday, and he did not disappoint with his very grown-up take on Fall 2010. Grey wool morning jackets, charcoal pinstripe mini-dresses with lace detail, long sleeved cropped sweaters with neck cuffs, velvet apron dresses and one scene-stealing black leather zip away trench coat. The colour du jour?  Black, but with dabs of mustard and emerald thrown into the mix. We can’t forget to mention the accessories–wool backpacks with long trailing ribbons, velvet sunglasses from his collaboration with Linda Farrow and black leather bandage boots–as they perfectly compliment Wang’s tough yet polished world.

jan10readskirkwood

A 50th anniversary is reason to celebrate, and that is just what Nicholas Kirkwood is doing. In honour of the UK-based store Liberty of London’s Carnaby Street location, the brand is using two of their best-known floral prints-the Bounty and the Santa Maria-and covering a pair of their signature heels with the prints. Fingers crossed these styles make their way across the pond. [Fashionista]

Recent attempts made by the trendy label Modern Amusement, including the departure of it’s CEO and company-wide layoffs, weren’t enough to save the brand. Video: Coco Rocha’s life is pretty damn glamourous

We always suspected that being a model essentially entailed montages of swinging around guitars and shopping bags and running down hallways barefoot in an evening gown, and Coco Rocha has confirmed our suspicions. Rocha has conceived a bit of fun self-promotion for Modelina.com, set to JET’s “She’s a Genius.” It’s basically a fantasy day in the life of a Rocha, created to promote Fashion’s Night Out.

Check out the photo’s below from FNO: Rocha, Alexander Wang, Sessilee Lopez, Raquel Zimmermann et al. rock out on inflatable air guitars. Read the rest of this entry »
