Tyra Banks is apparently modeling again and we’ve got video proof!

Comments

Remember when Tyra Banks used to be a model? It’s been so long since we’ve seen the TV host/expert smizer actually doing what she became famous for, that we were pretty shocked to see her back in the swing, starring in the Nowness video of the day, entitled Strike the Pose. Filmed by photographer Marcus Gaab for I Love You Magazine, the short film features the former supermodel in an eighties-tastic outfit, complete with a flat-top bouffant and bright-yellow eyeshadow. While we can’t seem to separate Tyra from her over-the-top ways on America’s Next Top Model, it’s nice to see her abilities put to the test once again. So, how do you think she did?

They said/We said: Kelly Cutrone will replace Andre Teon Talley on America’s Next Top Model. Cue the waterworks!

Looks like Tyra’s gaining another female perspective. It was announced this morning that Kelly Cutrone will replace Andre Leon Talley as the fourth America’s Next Top Model judge next season. Known for her intense attitude (and that’s putting it mildly) on The Hills and The City, the founder of now-famed PR firm People’s Revolution will no doubt up the drama ante on the panel.

As for the rumours that a tiff with Banks is the reason for Talley’s departure, he dismissed them, telling Page Six “It’s all good in the neighborhood.” (Oh, okay.)  Although we’re sad to see Talley’s high-fashion credibility go, Cutrone’s blunt and quote-worthy advice is sure to bring some entertaining moments. Cue the waterworks. Read more »

SNP’s word of the day: Modelland

Comments

Word: Modelland

Usage: “Suddenly, Scouts from Modelland were everywhere. An asteroid rocketed to earth, throwing up chunks of marble all around the square and causing nearby runway walkers to flee in hysterics. A stunning Scout emerged from the rubble, with skin that seemed to be made of rough stone.”

Camel is back? Get out!

Finally the gods of fashion and trends have turned their heads to the goddess of New York in the ’90s: Elaine Benes. The New York Times has recently dug deeper into the Seinfeld leading lady’s style signatures: floral skirts, blazers and jumpsuits, and found them all trolling about downtown Manhattan. [New York Times]

The contestants of the upcoming cycle of America’s Next Top Model (we’ve lost count of what season they’re on) have been revealed. It’s a choice between a non-existent waist, a lesbian Hooters waitress and a 21-year-old mother and 11 others. Should be entertaining. [Racked and Jezebel]

Fashion news: Marc Jacobs poses nude, Tavi is number 1 and the perpetual catfight between Ford and Next

If you think animals fight for their mates, you should see Ford and Next go at it over models. Ford has sued Next three times for stealing models, and now Next is counter-suing, after one of their agents (with three of their prized models) jumped to Ford. Drama! [The Cut]

Taking one for the team, Marc Jacobs is the model for his first men’s fragrance in a decade.  Aptly named, Bang, it’s first ad features a lubed-up Jacobs lying naked with an oversized cologne bottle between his legs. Lets just hope none of the older, leathery designers decide to follow suit. [Huffington Post] Read more »
