MFW Diary: From MaxMara’s sailor stripes to ADR’s smoking hot Prada flame shoes, the news (and a little gossip) from Milan

Comments

Best in show: Prada. The moment the first look (head-to-toe noir with glittering embellishment) hit the graphic purple plush carpet/runway I was in love. It felt classic—very old school Prada (mixed-up prints, clean lines, slick structured bags).

The new suit for fall: Prada’s tailored jacket and cropped trousers. Regardless if you prefer the jumble of mix-and-match prints or the screaming solid orange version, at some point you’ll want them all.

Hottest shoes off the runway: Anna Dello Russo’s Prada Spring 2012 flame shoes.

Quotable: Anna Dello Russo compares herself to the Queen and plans a music career

Comments

Remember when Anna Dello Russo did a backwards yoga pose in her insane video for “Fashion Shower?” Well, looks like we’ll be seeing lots more of it! At a recent panel at London’s V&A Museum, the editrix/style star reveals that a career in music is next on her horizon:

“I want to finish in fashion, become a singer and release a record”

To boot, she praises photographer Tommy Ton (maybe a little too highly?) for influencing her to become “an ambassador for street style.”

“I went to see the exhibition of Cecil Beaton’s portraits of The Queen, and I thought; ‘That’s just like me and Tommy!”

Merry Christmas from Anna Dello Russo!

Comments

Who needs Santa when you’ve got ADR? In her latest nonsensical yet amazing video, the kooky Italian editrix dances around in another Fausto Puglisi mini dress, glitter heels, jeweled sunnies, and an oversized wig to “Jingle Bells” along with an unidentified friend. (Radio Deejay, perhaps?) We have no idea what’s going on here, but we love it just the same. Merry Christmas indeed!

Comments

Tomorrow is December 1, meaning that the holiday party season is upon us. Thankfully for us Vogue Nippon editor-at-large and street style star Anna Dello Russo revealed her rules on soiree dressing, including how to properly wear a hat this season:

“Choose between a hat and makeup, if you wear a hat keep a fresh face otherwise you will look like a transvestite.”

For our fourth day of Fashion’ween, we bring you the ultimate icon for show-stopping dress up: none other than Vogue Nippon editrix, Anna Dello Russo. Famed for her many fantastical getups, the key to authenticating Dello Russo’s look is easier than it looks—it’s all about the mini dress, the sparkle, the tan, and the larger-than-life hair accessory.

Before, after, or during your fashion shower, follow along as we break down her look:

They said/We said: Carine Roitfeld held a vampire-themed costume party last night in Paris

Comments

Photography by Eric Ryan/Getty Images

Has True Blood fever hit France? In celebration of Carine Roitfeld’s new book, Irreverent, she held a vampire ball in Paris last night where fashion’s biggest stars were expected to dress up and get into character. Naturally, some were more enthusiastic than others. Riccardo Tisci showed up with fake blood dripping from his mouth and Anna Dello Russo wore a Stephen Jones X Giles scarlet swan feather headdress that she described as “aggressive.” Other partygoers like Kanye West and Karl Lagerfeld dressed as per their usual. Perhaps they didn’t get the memo. Perhaps Kanye was still mid-fit.

Is Roitfeld is a Bill or Eric fan? We’re hoping the latter.
