J.Crew shoes, $200, boots, $250, and sweater, $230. Jeanna Lyons, J.Crew’s president and executive creative director.
Finally, our fashion prayers have been answered. J.Crew (jcrew.com), the famous American prepster palace, is opening its first Canadian store this month in the newly renovated Yorkdale Shopping Centre. (Can I get an amen?) Here, the ever-stylish Jenna Lyons, a.k.a. J.Crew’s president and executive creative director, talks fall must-haves and brand power.
Why did J.Crew decide to launch in Canada this year?
“We saw an increased level of traffic to our website from Canada. There was definitely a following [and] it was a natural progression. And fall is a great time to enter into a new country.”

I have been to London several times, but never have I seen the city so alive, so electric and so gorgeous… London you cleaned up well for this royal occasion.

If your boots have lost the battle with salt and snow, there’s nothing nicer than a mid-season pristine pair to perk up your walk to work. ($35, oldnavy.ca)

After a few months of letting soggy weather ruin cute outfits, I’m longing for waterproof footwear that’s actually stylish—specifically, Loeffler Randall’s much-anticipated rain booties (shown, $200). Originally slated for release two years ago (there were production delays), the cotton jersey–lined lace-ups are slightly Victorian, slightly military and altogether practical. At The Block (350 W. Cordova St., 604-685-8885, theblock.ca).
