Jessica Chastain is stunning (as per usual) for YSL’s Manifesto fragrance

Comments

You can expect Yves Saint Laurent to pull out the big guns when it comes to fragrance campaigns (just think of Sophie Dahl’s infamous Opium ad), so it comes as no surprise that Jessica Chastain‘s campaign for Manifesto, YSL’s latest fragrance, is high-impact. Read more »

After the stunning sneak peek last month, Lana Del Rey’s retro-inspired campaign with H&M has finally been revealed in full, and in one word, it’s perfection. The “L.A. noir” inspiration suits Del Rey’s self-described “ghetto Nancy Sinatra” style to a T, and the Blue Jeans chanteuse looks all kinds of beautiful in everything from covet-worthy abstract print skinnies to a sleek and body-conscious tweed dress.

Silver statues of David Beckham will be unveiled in conjunction with his second bodywear collection for H&M

Like Michelangelo’s David, David Beckham’s body is one of the most celebrated works of art of our time. It’s only fitting then that Beckham is also set to be immortalized in nine 10-foot statues of his hot, hot likeness. The silver statues are part of Beckham’s second bodywear collection for H&M, and they’ll be dotted about the retailer’s New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco locations from Thursday to Sunday.

Not only will locals get the chance to ogle the larger-than-life Beckhams (in underwear, no less), but those who Instagram a photo of the statue with the hashtag #HMBeckham will be in the running for a slew of prizes, including 10 mini statues of him (perfect stocking stuffers), a signed pair of undies and a $1,000 shopping spree at the Swedish retail giant. We haven’t gotten word yet as to why the Great White North is being left out of this gift from god (a.k.a. the manufacturers of the statues), but the States are just a hop and a skip away, right?

We’ve got the scoop and all the looks from Agyness Deyn’s 90s-inspired collection for Dr. Martens

Since most of us are still riding the wave of Britannia fanaticism post-London Olympics, news that Brit model Agyness Deyn has teamed up with famed London label Dr. Martens for a capsule collection could not be better timed.

Deyn, who first scored a pair of Dr. Martens boots at the age of 13, has been the face of the brand for the past two years. Her debut 29-piece collection will now have her at the helm of many design collaborations to come (a spring/summer 2013 line is already wrapped up). The collaboration pulls heavily from Deyn’s own signature grungy aesthetic, while also finding inspiration from style icons of the ‘90s.

Is it just a coincidence that Gwyneth Paltrow and Blake Lively released separate yet very similar perfume ads this week?

Maybe it’s all the Olympic fever in the air, or maybe it’s just all the perfume spritzing that’s made us dizzy, but we’re having a hard time distinguishing between the latest perfume ads for Blonde A (Blake Lively for Gucci Première) and Blonde B (Gwyneth Paltrow for Hugo Buss Nuit). Read more »

Exclusive! We’ve got the first teaser of Hudson’s cabaret-style video series starring Georgia May Jagger

Comments

Hudson Jeans is ringing in 10 years of their trademark Cali-meets-London style of denim by rolling out “Hudson Cabaret,” a four-part video series fronted by brand face Georgia May Jagger, and we’ve got an exclusive teaser of the campaign!

The videos were shot in Paris (a natural choice since the city is the birthplace of cabaret) and features Jagger alongside musical guests including dreamy electro-pop trio Au Revoir Simone and human beat boxer Tez. The campaign’s meant to celebrate the self-expression and freethinking attitude of the bygone cabaret era, with Jagger et al taking to the stage in some of the brand’s signature styles (ranging from art deco designs to colour-blocked jeans).

Check out the teaser above and keep your eyes peeled for the other three videos, which will be unveiled throughout the summer leading up to the brand’s anniversary this September.

Lanvin continues the “real people” trend, casting some seriously fabulous older ladies as fall campaign stars

First Dolce & Gabbana, then American Apparel and now Lanvin have all given their stamps of approval on the real-person-as-model phenomenon, with Alber Elbaz being the latest to prominently feature non-models in his designs.

After images of Lanvin’s Steven Meisel–lensed fall campaign first surfaced online last week, the interweb was desperately trying to pinpoint who exactly the Hitchcock-meets-punk blonde and glamorous advanced age models were. Turns out, they’re part of a motley cast of everyday women, including a waiter, a milliner and a recent U.S. immigrant. The older beauty is the only one who’s been named so far: she’s Advanced Style muse Jacquie “Rajah” Murdock, an ex-Apollo showgirl who’s always dreamed of going to Paris to model (now thanks to Elbaz, she’s finally gotten her moment in front of the lens).

“I was interested to bring these clothes back to the street somehow, and seeing how they look on different ages, different sizes,” Elbaz told WWD. “It felt like a crazy family, and I like that.”

The campaign may not be slated for release until September, but a viral video will be unveiled on August 21. If it’s anything like the last Lanvin video (remember Karen Elson and Raquel Zimmermann dancing straight-faced to Pitbull?), it will be amazing.
