Project Runway gossip: Christian Siriano to design wedding gowns and Heidi Klum is back on the market

Comments

Photo via Twitter

Arguably the most fierce Project Runway winner, Christian Siriano, recently announced (via Twitter, how else?) that he has an upcoming bridal collaboration with U.S. retailer Nordstrom. The designer gave his followers a sneak peek of the first dress, and while it’s not exactly a “hot mess” it leaves us wanting more. It seems Siriano has traded in his signature volume and drama for a safe and—dare we say it—slightly boring creation. (Siriano has since deleted the tweet, but because nothing ever disappears from the internet, the picture remains!)

The news is somewhat ironic considering Project Runway host Heidi Klum confirmed her divorce from husband Seal this morning. Read more »

Michael Kors as the hedges, Heidi Klum as an Amazonian robot alien, and more fashion Halloween costumes

Comments

Red carpet spotting is more fun on Halloween–there’s little in the way of simple column dresses and more of a push towards robots. Which is what we think Heidi Klum is dressed as for her annual Halloween bash. (Or maybe an alien? A Transformer? Help us out here.) Lanvin also threw a party at their New York boutique, where Brad Goreski donned a wig and a bow and went as teen blogger phenom Tavi and Anne Hathaway went as a masked woman wearing Lanvin. Over at Bette Midler’s Hulaween for the New York Restoration Project, Michael Kors was done up in leafy garb, which, according to his Twitter feed, was meant to be “a slice of privet hedge.”

Jenny McCarthy appeared on Chelsea Lately and talked about meeting Stefano Gabbana at MTV Europe’s Video Music Awards early in her career…and being stripped, literally, of her head-to-toe Dolce & Gabbana outfit after her boyfriend assaulted Gabbana after a misunderstanding. (The story is at 3:18) [Styleite]

It appears French costume designer Jeny Temime may have borrowed too heavily from an Alexander McQueen design for the last Harry Potter movie. [LelaLondon, via Refinery 29] Read more »

FMcover_august08The first-ever Canadian P&G Beauty Awards were handed out last night at Toronto’s Carlu. Nia Vardalos presided over the evening, which had a list of presenters that included Jeanne Beker, designer Joeffer Caoc, CNTM’s Meaghan Waller and Style by Jury’s David Clemmer. FASHION picked up two awards—Best Fashion Feature for Karen Burshtein’s “Diary of a Couture Dress” from our Summer 2008 issue and Best Magazine Cover for our August 2008 cover with Coco Rocha. Other winners included Addison Gill for Best New Face and Janine Falcon (imabeautygeek.com) for Best Beauty or Fashion Blog.

Tamara Mellon is suing her mother for $9.5 million. The lawsuit comes on the heels of the allegation that Mellon’s mum, Ann Yeardye, breached their part verbal/part paper contract in the sale of Jimmy Choo to Lion Capital in 2004. Yeardye was meant to receive only a cash pay off in the deal but she allegedly took $6.3 million in stock. [The Cut]
