The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee passed the Innovative Design Protection and Piracy Prevention Act yesterday. The bill would allow designers to copyright patterns and designs–currently protection only applies to trademarks–in an effort to keep knock-offs at bay. Haider Ackermann will stop producing his men’s label after the first season in what the company is calling a deliberate creative move. Seems that Emanuel Ungaro himself agrees with the rest of the world that Lindsay Lohan’s debut collection for his fashion house was disastrous. Are we susprised? Ungaro, who sold the company in 2005, said, “I am furious but I can’t do anything about it.” Going on, the designer lamented that his fashion house “is in the process of losing its soul.” [The Cut] Read more »
