The Jean Paul Gaultier Target collection looks incredible!

Photo via Fashin

Photo via Fashin

As is de rigueur with fast fashion collab leaks these days, a grainy, blurry cell phone image of a magazine spread featuring Jean Paul Gaultier’s Target collection has emerged. Nevermind the poor quality, the image is enough to get our fashion pulses racing. What’s amazing is that the collection is both classic Gaultier, and just plain classic: Breton stripes, a beautiful trench, a menswear inspired pinstriped jacket and dress. There’ also a kilt and a leather jacket with what appear to be quilted shoulders that are reminiscent of the detailing on his famous cone bra. From reading the blurry credits, we’re sorry to say that the hats and the fantastic chain necklace are not from the collection (they’re by Albertus Swanepoel and Kenneth Jay Lane respectively). But the tattoo print leggings and tee totally are! Try to keep calm until March 7. [Fashin, via Refinery 29]

Fashion news: Polaroid goes gaga for Gaga, a new prez at Holt Renfrew and Louise Goldin does spiky shoes for Topshop

Matthew Williamson will launch a men’s capsule collection next month. The line, which features tees, cashmere sweaters and silk scarves in the UK designer’s signature prints and vivid colours, will expand to a seasonal collection. [Vogue UK]

Lady Gaga has been named creative director of a specialty line for Polaroid. You may be scratching your head as to why, but just think about the innovation: a camera that adjusts for those wearing an eye patch, or, as our Halifax blogger Nadine suggested, one “that only works when you happen to have forgotten to put on your pants.” [Racked]

Oh, but Jason Wu is also going to be designing cameras, so maybe this is going to turn into a thing. The designer will launch a line of digital point-and-shoots at New York Fashion Week next month. [Styleist] Read the rest of this entry »

Fashion news: Lanvin’s spring campaign looks windy, Gaultier does sailor-inspired footwear, smell like Beyoncé, and more

dec09readslanvinsp10

Jamie Bochert is headlining the Lanvin ads for spring 2010. “I thought maybe we need a bit of action,” said artistic director Alber Elbaz. Shot by photographer Steven Meisel, the campaign has Bochert running, bending and dodging in feminine Lanvin ruffles.  Bochert also poses over a toilet in Marc Jacobs’ spring campaign. [WWD]

Beyoncé is launching her first fragrance. Heat comes out at the end of January, inspired by all the pyrotechnics a Beyoncé concert demands. “A lot of my performances have had fire involved, so we thought ‘Heat,’” the singer told WWD. Suffice to say, the ads will be steamy. [WWD] Read the rest of this entry »

Morrissey and Stella McCartney design vegan footwear

nov09readsmorrissey

Famed egomaniac and ex-Smith’s frontman Morrissey is collaborating with Stella McCartney on a shoe collection. The drama king is as equally animal-friendly (but far more outspoken) as McCartney—so it only seems appropriate that the two Brits would bond over the need for a leather-free shoe line.
