Toronto shops: Yellow diamonds, a consignment revival and more September news

Comments

Look around at any fashionable hand, neck or wrist, and you’ll see that sunny-coloured gems are the new black of the jewellery world. Add a dose of vitamin D to your own bling box with one of Tiffany & Co.’s new fancy yellow diamond pieces, in stores this October. “Yellow diamonds have long been considered rare and strikingly beautiful. The stones have a tantalizing colour that is as pure as sunlight, appropriate for both day and night,” says Andrea Hopson, vice-president of Tiffany & Co. Canada. FASHION’s favourite mellow yellows include Elsa Peretti’s Diamonds by the Yard pear-shaped pendant in 18-karat gold ($16,600) and Tiffany’s Bezet rings in 18-karat gold (from $12,600). Perfect for the fashion-forward and the modern bride-to-be.

Do you love your Twitter handle enough to wear it?

sept09twitternecklace

We love these nerdy chic necklaces from Survival of the Hippest, available in white or yellow gold and sterling silver with custom-made Twitter iconography–you can also add diamonds. Get your Twitter ID (or preferred hashtag) carved out of metal to rest around your neck (or ankle or wrist) for the rest of your tweeting days. A 14k gold @FashionCanada with a smattering of hard candy would run us $210 US with delivery. Would you wear this twitterific name plate? What would your hash tag be? Would you get diamonds? (We totally would.) [via @FashionableHFX]

Is the statement necklace over? The recent explosion of oversized jewels–both real and faux–has left nary a clavicle unadorned. But here we are, flipping through red carpet pics from last night’s Emmys, taken slightly aback by all the strapless gowns and naked necks. Witness January Jones and Blake Lively (pic after the jump), both in Versace, both with bare necks. Read more »

Edmonton: Ice house

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, and as far as I’m concerned, the bigger the better.  Located in the historic LeMarchand Mansion with a spectacular view of Edmonton’s River Valley, Kline Fine Jewellery & Design (11523-110 Ave., 780-482-6159, klinejewellery.com) is the address for exquisite sparklers that are sure to set your heart aflutter.  The owner is former Edmonton Eskimo’s linebacker and six-time Grey Cup winner, Tom Towns.
