After years of anticipation, Fashion’s Night Out, the Vogue-backed citywide street party that began and expanded worldwide to include stops in London, Paris and even Sydney finally made its way to Canada’s fashion capitals, hitting Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal last night. As our editors attended events around Toronto, photographer Farzin Ghayour hit the pavement to shoot the street styles.

Beginning with Holt Renfrew’s 175th anniversary street party, Ghayour captured some of the most adorable and magenta-filled moments including limited edition sweatshirts being sold direct from the brand’s roadtripping truck, custom-designed magenta Diet Cokes being handed out, the crowd (including president Mark Derbyshire) watching a specially filmed tribute video featuring guest spots from Victoria Beckham, Donna Karan, Michael Kors and others.

As Fashion’s Night Out quickly approaches, the announcements just seem to get better and better. And while we can only be half-excited over the fact that Azealia Banks is set to perform during FNO in New York City (make a last-minute change and come to Toronto instead, please?) we’re completely behind the news that she’s created a limited edition lipstick with M.A.C Cosmetics for the occasion. Though most of our comic book experience thus far has been limited to the Archie-Betty-Veronica love triangle, we have a feeling we can get behind this new arrival: 3.1 Phillip Lim has just released several sneak peeks of “Kill the Night,” the label’s soon-to-be-released comic book inspired by the brand’s superhero-inspired Fall 2012 collection.

We might as well pitch a tent and set up camp outside Holt Renfrew’s sleek Bloor Street entrance, because come September, it will be the place to be. Not only is Holt’s taking part in Fashion’s Night Out festivities September 6 (stay tuned for details!), but the store is also ringing in it’s monumental 175th birthday. In true Holt’s fashion, the Hot @175 anniversary will be rung in in style, with a slew of designer collaborations for sale in (what else?) signature magenta.

From its start in 1837 as a hat and cap shop in Quebec City to the go-to luxury mecca it is today, Holt’s has undeniably had a starring role in Canada’s retail legacy. To fête the occasion, everything from high-fashion designs like Christian Louboutin’s magenta-platform sling backs to fun finds like Pantone’s “Holt Renfrew Magenta” notebook will prove that even at 175, Holt’s still has it.
