Hell has frozen over: Anna Dello Russo has worn the same dress at least 4 times this month

Comments

Photography by Lewis Mirrett

Anna Dello Russo has been seen in almost-the-same dress not twice, not three times, but four times. And during fashion month, too! A shande. Dello Russo first appeared in the embellished little (and we mean little) number alongside model Karolina Kurkova during Fashion’s Night Out in New York. They were twins, and it was cute. Little did we know that the twin trend would rage on… and on. We’re not sure if Kate Middleton‘s recycling ways are rubbing off on the typically over the top Vogue Nippon editor, or that she’s trying (and trying hard) to promote her fellow countryman, Italian designer Fausto Puglisi, who’s behind the fraternal twin creations. Either way, we’re just wondering how upset Tommy Ton is.

They said/We said: Is Fashion’s Night Out calling it quits?

Comments

Photography by Lewis Mirrett

Barely a week after New York fashion week there’s already speculation that Fashion’s Night Out, the part shopping extravaganza, part charity event that kick starts NYFW every September won’t be returning next year.

Vogue, the mag that notoriously spearheaded the effort, says that it’s too much work to organize the event, which takes place during one of fashion’s busiest weeks of the year. Larger retailers who take part in FNO agree, saying they don’t generate enough revenue to cover the costs of participating in the event because people aren’t actually shopping during the night but looking for freebies and celeb sightings.

Karolina Kurkova and Anna Dello Russo strut for Lewis Mirrett

Replace candy for clothes, and Fashion’s Night Out could easily be described as the Halloween of fashion (no, not because it’s scary). For one night only, the streets of New York are jam-packed with merrymakers trying to navigate their way from one party to the next. In and amongst the crowd, our boy Lewis Mirrett was snapping away, capturing all of the festivities in his signature vibrant way! We’re feeling pretty jazzed by the photos, and have added some hilarious (we hope!) captions to add to the fun. Enjoy!

NYFW diary: Anna! Stella! Diane! Our recap of the Fashion’s Night Out madness!

Comments

Singer Estelle and designer Diane von Furstenberg shot by C. Madden

While TIFF-goers will be clambering to get a glimpse of Brad Pitt at tonight’s Moneyball premiere, nothing could compare to last night’s flashing of bulbs and girlish screams that echoed throughout NYC for Fashion’s Night Out. I spotted Diane von Furstenberg addressing the crowd at her meatpacking store in Pope-like style, arms waving soothingly at her fans. Later in the night as Anna Wintour made her appearance (a show-dog circle and then, poof, she was gone!) outside Pastis where I was noshing on late-night frites, a parade of fashion followers braved her bodyguards and the cobblestone streets in six-inch stilettos, chasing after their fashion god for just a glimpse. At Stella McCartney‘s downtown store the crowd was smokin’ hot, and I’m not talking about their looks. A broken air conditioner had guests passing the Perrier like it was crack.

They said/We said: What we think about the Glee kids hitting up Fashion’s Night Out

Comments

Those of you who thought that Anna Wintour dubbing “geek” as “chic” at the Webbys was a one-time deal, think again: the cast of Glee will be featured during the third annual Fashion’s Night Out event on September 8.

Cast members including Canuck Cory Monteith, Lea Michele, Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, and Darren Criss will make appearances at retail locations in New York and Los Angeles.  Bee Shaffer—Wintour’s daughter and currently an associate managing producer in Los Angeles for Ryan Murphy’s production company, which produces Glee—supposedly set up the appearances.

Previously at FNO, Sarah Jessica Parker and Bette Midler sang show tunes with Oscar de la Renta and Alexander Wang, and his supermodel clique danced in the windows of his store. Hopefully, the cast of Glee will prepare some original performances for FNO in lieu of repeating previously aired acts. Who wouldn’t love to see a little fashion-fuelled Gaga/Glee routine while shopping like an A-lister?

Can’t make it to New York City or Los Angeles in September? Fear not: American e-commerce sites including Net-a-Porter and Shopbop will participate in FNO for the first time this year. All you’ll need to get the full experience from home is a credit card and a Glee soundtrack.
