Proving once again that dimples and a good sense of style can take you places, Olivia Palermo has just been declared the face of Rochas’ newest fragrance.

The pairing is an understandable one considering the similarities between Rochas’ signature refined elegance and Palermo’s own, ahem, “elevated” aesthetic (remember when she was forced to attend hosted a Guess party on The City but refused to wear Guess?). The house, with a well-known roster of perfumes, is letting nothing slip about the new scent—however all things considered, the face of a fragrance is more likely to influence a purchase than the scent itself. Listen: Liv Tyler sings for Givenchy’s newest Very Irrésistible perfume

Liv Tyler has worked with Givenchy since 2003, but late last year it was announced that her role as spokesperson was evolving: she would be the voice of a new perfume. And when we say voice, we really mean it: Tyler recorded a cover of the INXS hit “Need You Tonight” as the official song of Givenchy’s forthcoming fragrance Very Irrésistible Givenchy Electric Rose. While the scent isn’t scheduled to hit counters until April, the song is ready for your listening pleasure. However, consider this a sneak peek—there’s a music video in the works and it’s sure to be a sensory overload!

What’s the best perfume for sensitive skin? I’m typically reactive but don’t want to give up my love for fragrances!
Non-synthetic fragrances are not necessarily a new phenomenon, though they’re more difficult for perfumers to develop into a sophisticated scent, not to mention more expensive to experiment with. Selection has been limited in the past, but consumers’ recent distaste for chemicals—plus an increasing demand for deeply personal and unique auras—have helped give rise to natural, apothecary-style perfumes of late… and they’re awesome. Wanna smell like leather? (Or rare flowers?) Louis Vuitton to launch its first fragrance since the 1930s!

On Wednesday, Louis Vuitton announced the launch of a new fragrance—its first since the 1930s. The announcement comes after much speculation when, last October, WWD reported Vuitton had been investigating rare French flowers for use in a perfume.

The nose behind it all will be none other than the renowned third-generation perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud, who has created such notable scents as Dior Addict, Stella by Stella McCartney, and Poême by Lancôme.

The fashion house provided no insights into when we can expect the fragrance to arrive, but said that Cavallier-Belletrud would travel in search of the perfect scent. The fragrance will be exclusively released in Louis Vuitton boutiques worldwide.

Afternoon beauty fix: Avoid your office’s perfume ban with this handy little trick

There’s a sign in the women’s washroom at my office that requests it remain a perfume-free zone. I understand that people are allergic, but I still want to smell nice! What should I do?
There’s a girl on my subway car every morning that offends even me—an avid perfume wearer—simply because she applies too much. I’m assuming that part of the problem is that women are (or were) spraying their necks and wrists with little regard for free-flying fragrance particles. Instead of spritzing into the air, applying perfume with concentrated effort will help keep the air clean and ensure your personal scent is light and subtle. The Travolo perfume atomizer ($19, travolo.com) is a re-fillable fragrance-carrying case that fits in your pocket so you can re-apply whenever you wish.
