Our Twitter feed was buzzing yesterday with LG Fashion Week’s latest news.  The event has yet another new stomping ground after their warehouse venue for the upcoming season apparently fell through. There are no details yet but we can tell you that the new venue is the Allstream Centre at Exhibition Place. [@NathAt and @geekigirl]

Backstage beauty: A twisted classic at Jason Wu

French hairstyling legend Odile Gilbert crafted a twist (ha!) on the traditional bun at today’s Jason Wu show. (Our own Lesa Hannah was backstage at Wu’s show today and we’re told she has video. Stay tuned! UPDATE: Here it is!) Gilbert wrapped the models’ ponytails with stretchy cord to create a slightly wobbly look and then twisted them up to create a “flat chignon.” It’s soft and pretty, with a slight wonk to it, which we love. Bonus: It looks pretty simple to recreate at home.

First Neiman Marcus, then Net-a-Porter dropped Emanuel Ungaro for Spring 2010, and word is that now the Ungaro boutique on Madison Avenue is shutting its doors. The shop is reportedly calling customers with the news that they’re closing down shop and are having a liquidation sale. An employee at the shop confirmed the sale, but not the closure. [The Cut]

Fashion news: Polaroid goes gaga for Gaga, a new prez at Holt Renfrew and Louise Goldin does spiky shoes for Topshop

Matthew Williamson will launch a men’s capsule collection next month. The line, which features tees, cashmere sweaters and silk scarves in the UK designer’s signature prints and vivid colours, will expand to a seasonal collection. [Vogue UK]

Lady Gaga has been named creative director of a specialty line for Polaroid. You may be scratching your head as to why, but just think about the innovation: a camera that adjusts for those wearing an eye patch, or, as our Halifax blogger Nadine suggested, one “that only works when you happen to have forgotten to put on your pants.” [Racked]

Oh, but Jason Wu is also going to be designing cameras, so maybe this is going to turn into a thing. The designer will launch a line of digital point-and-shoots at New York Fashion Week next month. [Styleist] Read the rest of this entry »

Head into the woods in fairy tale style

nov09wood8_lgFall has been filled with camping chic–tweeds, heritage checks and fishing waders–but we’ve also been seeing a more nightmarish take on the woodsy trend. Animal prints, feathers and fur (real and faux) are straight out of Where the Wild Things Are or Into The Woods–the Sondheim musical’s whimsical-yet-eerie look at popular fairytale heroes amidst a haunted backwoods is an ideal avenue for inspiration.

After the jump, check out our gallery of the best delirium-inspired looks, perfect for a stroll through the enchanted forest. Read the rest of this entry »

NYFW news: Pigskin at Alexander Wang, Tim Gunn speaks out on LiLo, we are jealous of Tavi, and more

Are you ready for some football? Alexander Wang mixed sweatshirt fleece and caramel leather for a pigskin-inspired spring collection.
