Just announced! Jennifer Connelly is the new face of Shiseido

Shiseido announced this morning that Jennifer Connelly will be their first ever global spokesperson—a decision that was made on the eve of the brand’s 140th anniversary. WWD reports that Connelly will make her Shiseido debut as the face of their Future Solution LX skincare line with an ad campaign this fall. Read more »

The real TIFF style star? The resort collections spotted all over the red carpet

During this year’s TIFF, the word we read almost as often as “red carpet” or “Martin Sheen” was “Resort,” as in resort collections. Indeed, no designer dominated the premieres and parties, but these collections certainly did, popping up on nearly every major red carpet. Our favourite was Carey Mulligan‘s celestial Christopher Kane dress, but Emma Stone (in Stella McCartney), Rebecca Hall and Jennifer Connelly (both in YSL) also chose looks from this “season” (can we call it that?). Freida Pinto wins for most resort-filled TIFF wardrobe, trotting out Alexander McQueen for the You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger premiere, an aqua Narciso Rodriguez for the presser and a fuchsia leopard-print Marchesa for the Miral party. Just when we thought any semblance of glamour had gone out of TIFF, Jennifer Connelly swoops in in a sleek and cool YSL Resort 2011 tux. The actress attended the premiere of Dustin Lance Black‘s What’s Wrong With Virginia, where she plays the title role, and which also stars Ed Harris, Emma Roberts and cutie newcomer Harrison Gilbertson.

TIFF round-up: Colin Farrell gets in photographer’s face, teary-eyed Jennifer Connelly and more

FMtiff09farrell51Colin Farrell took time out from walking the red carpet to single out a London-based freelance photographer. After Joe Alvarez yelled for everyone to clear the carpet so he could get a solo shot of Farrell, the star got aggressive in defence of his red-carpet companion: his sister.  Grabbing Alvarez by the neck, Farrell said, “You don’t yell at my sister like that.” Alvarez insists Farrell overreacted and is contemplating laying charges.
