Quotable: Well, at least Karl still likes Lana Del Rey

Comments

Oh Kaaarl. The Chanel/Fendi/KARL/every-line-ever designer is making waves today for calling Adele “a little too fat” in his interview with the French edition of Metro, but we’ve uncovered another nugget! While the Adele remarks have been the crux of the news for today, he did make another comment—this time about our beloved bee-stung Lana Del Rey:

“Lana Del Rey is not bad at all. She looks very much like a modern-time singer. In her photos she is beautiful. Is she a construct with all her implants? She’s not alone with implants.”

View the stunning Chanel Athletics campaign images and go behind-the-scenes at the shoot in the paradisal Cap d’Antibes

Comments

Another day, another creation from the prolific genius that is Karl Lagerfeld. Earlier this week, it was Chanel couture, this month it’s the international KARL pop-ups for the collection released THIS SECOND, and today it’s the ad campaign he shot for the Spring 2012 Chanel Athletics collection. The truly exquisite shots feature Joan Smalls and Saskia de Brauw doing sporty things over the ocean in Le Cap d’Antibes in frothy, pleated, and poofed dresses. Dare we say, the behind-the-scenes shots are equally as spellbinding. Images of a team—which included the Kaiser and Carine Roitfeld, to name a few—whisking through the ocean, have us counting down to our own vacations.

They said/We said: Starlets to harlots! Karl Lagerfeld shoots the look book for a former escort’s lingerie collection

Comments

From starlets to harlots! Karl Lagerfeld’s latest project with alleged former French escort Zahia Dehar is likely to cause quite a stir. Lagerfeld has taken it upon himself to shoot a look book for the upcoming lingerie line of the scandal-ridden “designer.”

For those unfamiliar with Dehar, designing lingerie is not her only love—she also seems to have a thing for French football players. She was the source of much uproar in Europe back in 2010, when it was discovered that she was involved with three prominent footie players for the nonchalant rate of £2,000 per night. (Oh, and she was also underage at the time.) Sacrebleu! Read more »

Go Fish-er: Chic and wearable apparel

Comments

Eileen Fisher

Karl Lagerfeld, as quoted by Coco Rocha on Twitter, has a strong opinion on holiday loungewear: “Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life, so you bought some sweatpants.” Thankfully, Eileen Fisher comes to the rescue. The brand, known for simply chic and wearable apparel, has opened its first Canadian storefront in Vancouver (2721 Granville St., 604-733-5225, eileenfisher.com). Perfect for a cozy chalet getaway. Your sneak peek at KARL, the kaiser’s new line in partnership with Net-A-Porter

Comments

Talk about a perfect pairing. Karl Lagerfeld has teamed up with Net-A-Porter for the launch of his recently announced new line, KARL. The online luxury retailer will be the only place to snag these styles in North America when the line becomes available on January 25 of next year. In the sneak-peek images, we’re seeing mostly traditional shapes with the iconic Lagerfeld edge—and we’re already dreaming of owning it all. With over 70 pieces in the collection, and the price point much lower than lots of his other wears—from Karl-cameo’d totes at $50 all the way up to leather biker jackets for around $1,000—you should probably save up that extra Christmas money, it’s not long now till it’s all available.

They said/We said: Lady Gaga is larger than life (literally) on the cover of Visionaire’s newest $1,500 issue

Lady Gaga for Visionaire Magazine

Photography by Inez & Vindoodh for Visionaire Magazine

Known for her crazy outfits and antics—like showing up to the Grammys in an egg—we aren’t shocked by Lady Gaga’s cover for the newest issue of Visionaire Magazine. Styled by her BFF Nicola Formichetti, she appears as an oil-slicked mermaid—standard fare for the pop star, really. What is outrageous, however, is the magazine’s literal take on the issue’s theme of larger than life. The deluxe issue measures in at 5×7 feet (yes, that’s taller than the average human) and costs a cool $1,500. (The standard issue is a measly 3×4 feet in size, and much more affordable.) It should go without saying the size has broken a Guinness World Record. Read more »
