Kelly Osbourne’s $250,000 manicure has inspired an entire range of Black Diamond nail polish colours

Azature Black Diamond nail polish

When Kelly Osbourne wore a sample of Azature’s $250,000 Black Diamond nail polish to the Emmy Awards last fall, reaction was split between jealousy and outrage. While the manicure was stunning, she was accused by many of exaggerating the actual cost. The lone bottle of $250,000 nail polish, which contains 267 carats of black diamonds, is still on display at Selfridges in London.

With a quarter of a million dollars price tag, it’s no surprise that the sole bottle of Black Diamond nail polish has yet to be purchased. However, in an effort to bring the luxe look to the masses, Azature removed a few zeros and released a $25 version last fall. The significantly cheaper Azature Black Diamond nail polish contains one real black pave diamond and coats nails with a black, glittery shine that resembles the sparkly $250,000 diamond look.

If Kelly Osbourne had her way, she’d like you to believe that each of her nails were covered in $25,000 worth of nail polish at last night’s Emmys. Before the award show went live she tweeted a picture of Azature’s Black Diamond nail polish with the subtle caption, “About to get a $250k manicure w nail polish made w blk diamonds made by @azature so excited & honored but absolutely shitting myself to have that much money on my nails!”

However, given that the jewelry company only produced one bottle of its $250,000 nail polish—a bottle that contains a hefty 267 carats of black diamonds—there was some confusion about what was really on Kelly Osbourne’s nails. Read more »

Quotable: This star has silver hair because of the Golden Girls

Comments

There has been much speculation over Kelly Osbourne’s dyed grey hair—was she copying Lady Gaga? Was her hair actually turning grey? However, it turns out her inspiration is nothing more than a favourite TV show. The red carpet correspondent recently told Glamour:

“I did it because of a magazine clipping I found when I was 13—and because I’m obsessed with The Golden Girls. Maybe I’ll do yellow next. Maybe I’ll do green.”

Quoteable: This star thinks once you hit 30 it’s time to step away from the dye bottle

Comments

Kelly Osbourne has changed her hair colour almost as many times as she’s changed careers. We have to admit, her current gig on the red carpets for E! is our favourite—as is her mauve-grey shade of hair. But if you want to copy her colour, you better be under 30. Osbourne explains:

“To me, I’m 27, I’ve got three years left, the way I look at it, to have fun with it, because once you’re 30, you look like a right idiot walking around with like rainbow, bright color hair and all different things like that.”

They said/We said: Madonna’s being sued for use of the phrase “Material Girl.” The horror!

Comments

By Bianca Teixeira

When Madonna frolicked about in a hot-pink dress singing about being a “Material Girl” back in 1985, we doubt she imagined being sued for ownership of the phrase 26 years later.

L.A. Triumph, a brand that has been selling their own line of junior girls’ clothing under the name since 1997, is taking the singer to court, claiming that her use of the phrase in reference to her Material Girl collection creates confusion for buyers.

The label is demanding that Madonna’s line—for which Kelly Osbourne is the face—turn over all profits made since its launch last summer. Both sides will see the inside of a courtroom in mid-October. A judge has already denied the request by the superstar to have the case thrown out, with Madonna’s reps insisting that she is the “senior user” of the phrase.

Will the real Material Girl please stand up?

Metal princess, sometimes singer, and TV personality Kelly Osbourne’s adding a new title to her list: poster girl. The new face of Madonna and daughter Lourdes Leon’s clothing line, Material Girl, was in Toronto yesterday for the fall collection launch at the Bay to partake in a fan-filled Q&A session with eTalk’s Tanya Kimduring which she heralded the likes of Gaga for “putting bravery back into fashion.” Known for her call-it-like-it-is honesty and humour, Osbourne was in full force yesterday when we chatted before her appearance, describing her style as the drunk Marilyn Monroe and poking fun at the perfumers behind her scent for the day: “It’s by a company called Mûre et Musc, and it’s really spelled like ‘extreme,’ but they try to make it fancy by [pronouncing] it differently.”
