Kate Middleton does have a royal baby bump—she just doesn’t want you to see it. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made a surprise outing today (that is, they attended a public event that wasn’t part of their working royal duties) at the horse race festival at Cheltenham. Kate has actually attended the race almost every year in the past and other royals, like Zara Phillips and Princess Anne, were at Cheltenham earlier in the week.

But back to the baby bump. Lest you think that Kate Middleton is experiencing a magical pregnancy that keeps her looking trim at all times, the eagle-eyed readers of What Kate Wore were quick to notice that she’s altered her coat to allow for more room. Read more »

Kate Middleton opts for a low-key Christmas look while spending the day with her family

Christmas time is family time at its best—a sentiment that was especially embraced by the Duchess of Cambridge, who opted to spend her last Christmas before motherhood with her own family at their home in Berkshire alongside Prince William, rather than with the rest of the Royal Family who gathered at Sandringham with Queen Elizabeth.

For the Middleton family’s visit to St. Marks church (caroling was involved!), Kate opted to wear some old favourites, including the brown wool Celeste coat by Hobbs she previously wore while on visit to Liverpool last February, her matching brown suede Aquatalia boots and her green amethyst Kiki McDonough earrings. Her hair was pulled back into a simple low bob, which while uncharacteristic for the Duchess, must have been her wanting to be comfortable.

The Duchess amped up the festive spirit with the red Hugo Boss pashmina she wore last summer while on visit to Prince Edward Island and a red Gucci clutch she’s been carrying of late. Red seemed the accent colour of choice for the Middleton family, with Carole and Pippa opting to accessorize in the same shade.

While the rest of the day was a private affair for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Middleton family, we can only hope for clues inside Pippa Middleton’s entertainment book, Celebrate.

And the bangs rage on… Kate Middleton makes her first visit to Cambridge!

Well, isn’t this interesting. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made their first visit to the city that bears their official title—the first ever for the Duchess, and the first in official capacity for Prince William since being married. Arriving by train from Kings Cross station in London (but maybe not this platform), the couple made several stops. But before they could get to them, the Duke and Duchess were met by throngs of fans who had lined the streets in hopes of meeting them. One fan gave Prince William a “babygro,” which upon googling, we learned was a baby jumpsuit. Awks.

Beginning with a visit to Cambridge University’s Guildhall, the Duke and Duchess were greeted by Lord Sainsbury of Turville, the Chancellor of the University and met with several staff members including her father’s first cousin, Dr. Penny Barton. According the BBC, Prince William made a lovely speech about the city being “a place renowned the world over for its dynamism, beauty and learning” and Dr. Barton responded by saying that Kate had made the family “proud.”

It must be mighty cold in London right now, because today Kate Middleton recycled another outfit from Christmas of last year. The eggplant-purple coat was last seen on Christmas morning, when the Duchess wore it to the royal family’s holiday church service Sandringham. This morning, however, she accessorized the coat in much the same style as she did yesterday: with a wide Alexander McQueen belt, black tights and her black suede Aquatalia by Marvin K boots. She did however swap out the green amethyst Kiki McDonough earrings for her citrine drop pair. Read more »

Gone are the topical accessories, strapless dresses and pastel colours she wore just weeks ago—Kate Middleton is completely ready for fall, and doing so with a range of rich jewel-toned outfits. Considering that she has a half-dozen appearances scheduled this week, over the coming days our Kate Middleton gallery is going to fill up with cold-weather-approved outfits. And while we can’t confirm that the Duchess has been reading our Fall/Winter 2012 trend guide, it’s worth pointing out that so far, she’s most definitely following our fashion forecast. Read more »

Yesterday we asked if it was possible for Kate Middleton and Prince William to look even more relaxed during the last leg of their royal tour of Southeast Asia and the South Pacific and today it seems that the answer is a very enthusiastic “YES!” This morning they arrived in Tuvalu, a Polynesian island that’s north of Fiji (almost closer to Hawaii than it is to Australia) and Will and Kate were immediately immersed in the local culture. After being greeted by the Governor General, Kate Middleton and Prince William were carried through the crowd on thrones created just for the occasion. Then came the flower headdresses—which paired quite well with Kate’s pale-yellow daisy eyelet lace dress. The very Louis Vuitton Spring 2012-esque frock was made by an unnamed seamstress (apparently a custom order for Kate) and has oversized sleeves, a trim waist and a pleated skirt. Kate Middleton was also wearing her Stuart Weitzman Minx wedges and Kiki McDonough Citrine Drop earrings.

But it was later that night that the real island party began. Read more »

Kate Middleton sings along to Monty Python while recycling another look at the Olympic closing ceremony

See all of Kate’s Olympic looks! »

Amidst the excitement of The Spice Girls reunion and the gold-on-gold (on gold) Brit model spectacular at last night’s Olympic closing ceremonies in London, our eyes, as usual, were firmly planted on dear Duchess of Cambridge. Attending alongside Prince Harry to represent the Royal Family, Kate spent the evening in typically good-natured form singing along to the many famed Brit tunes by George Michael, Take That, One Direction and even Eric Idle of Monty Python. In similarly typical form, Kate dropped the Team GB polo she sported mid-games and opted for another old faithful: the dotted-blue Whistles “Bella” dress she wore earlier this summer to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert. It was lucky for us to get a second look given that we never got a good look at the concert, and y’all know how important those are to us! As for the rest of the ensemble, Kate carried her Anya Hindmarch “Maud clutch” which bears a custom embroidered “C” for Catherine and wore the custom Kiki McDonough diamond and topaz earrings she’s been spotted with all summer long.

Kate Middleton attends her second event of the day in a glorious (and recycled!) Roksanda Ilincic dress

Another event, another stunning recycle. Girl makes it look so easy! Kate Middleton has just arrived at the Royal Academy of the Arts for her second event of the day, a reception in celebration of the GREAT campaign, which aims to promote the U.K.’s arts and culture abroad (as if it needed selling!). Alongside Kate and Prime Minister David Cameron, attendees at the event include Vivienne Westwood, Julian Fellows (Downton, what!) and genius of the moment, Stella McCartney.

Kate is wearing the glorious pale grey Roksanda Ilincic dress that we loved so much in Los Angeles last year, this time with her hair pulled back, exposing bespoke blue topaz and diamond Kiki McDonough earrings that she wore to the opening ceremonies last Friday. Doesn’t she look splendid? Is there even a point of saying that anymore?
