Ice cream, pink lemonade, and nearly 2,000 balloon animals aren’t typical ways to start a Sunday morning—but then we only get to start our day off with a Mulberry fashion show but twice a year. This show is always a big ticket of LFW, for its prime guest list (um, today’s show included Kristen Stewart AND Kate Moss, who wore a Canadian tuxedo and a brown hat!), super-luxe venue (the upscale Claridges Hotel in the tony Mayfair neighbourhood), dogs on the runway (this season: miniature schnauzers), and, obviously, the fact that the brand is one of the fastest-growing luxury brands out there. Another way to start the day: sequins, and yet another sorbet palette of yellow, green, and pink.

Celeb poll: Vote for your favourite starlet from the MTV Movie Awards red carpet!

Comments

The MTV Movie Awards never fail to bring out the best of young Hollywood for an action-packed night of candid humour, wham-bam performances and, of course, killer red carpet style. Last night, starlets like Hailee Steinfeld, Kristen Stewart, Blake Lively and Leighton Meester stepped out of their fashion comfort zones to rock the red carpet in everything from a Louis Vuitton suit to a safety-pinned Balmain mini. And its lucky they looked so slammin’⎯they had to keep up with the onstage antics (a certain steamy kiss between Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner comes to mind). After you’ve finished picturing that, check out our top 10 best-dressed ladies and vote for your favourite!

Our Montreal editor hangs out with an ultimate fighter

Comments

The buzz last Friday on St-Laurent Boulevard was the red carpet welcoming (actually it was a black carpet lined with leather) at Buonanotte restaurant for UFC (Ultimate Fighter Champion) welterweight icon Georges St-Pierre–a.k.a. GSP, Quebec’s darling in the world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and one of the photogenic faces (and bodies) of Spike TV’s reality show The Ultimate Fighter, which starts filming for its 12th season next month in Vegas.

What on earth, you may ask, does all this sporty rhetoric have to do with fashion? Well, as it turned out, the handsome Saint-Isidore native (who turns 29 next week) made the rounds not only as martial arts master, but as a celebrity face for California-based Affliction Clothing. While some of the clothes could be described as Ed Hardy-esque, the biker chic tie-dyed dresses, studded booties and jackets have been spotted on the likes of Kristen Stewart, Kate Beckinsale and Montreal’s own Emmanuelle Chriqui.

Truth be told, the UFC phenomenon is way over my head, but St-Pierre is indeed a looker, and one who took in stride the entourage (me included) that surrounded, photographed and filmed him, even as he ate his dinner. With his biceps peeking out from his own Affliction t-shirt, St-Pierre posed for photos, engaged in mini-interviews and mingled with an eager yet respectful crowd. Along with GSP, R&B/hip hop artist Massari, American actor Stephen Dorff, Quebec rocker Jonas, and fellow UFC fighters Paul Daley, Yoshiyuki Yoshida, Sam Stout and Frankie Edgar mixed with the male and female models who worked the scene in Affliction’s fall line.

Affliction’s fall line will be available at niche boutiques across Canada (afflictionclothing.com).

Blackface keeps popping up in fashion editorials–on the heels of Lara Stone’s racial transformation and Tyra’s ANTM shoot comes V as the next culprit. [The Cut]

Karl Lagerfeld will star in a short documentary that follows him on September 10th as he worked at the Chanel offices. The film “The Blonde and I” even caught the designer whipping up a quick outfit sketch before speeding off to an airport photo shoot where he remarked, “I look good on the runway.” Of course you do Karl, you look good everywhere.
