As if we weren’t already longing for the warmer temps, Lacoste and Catherine Malandrino’s upcoming collaboration has got us virtually counting down. Arriving at Holt Renfrew in April, the collection mixes classic Malandrino femininity with Lacoste’s signature sporty approach. Classic polos get a lift when mixed with flirty pleated skirts and transformed into thinly knit summer dresses.

NYFW diary: Prabal Gurung, Tommy Hilfiger’s anniversary show, and celeb-spotting at every turn

DKNY Spring 2011. Photography by Peter Stigter

Saturday
While you lovelies were brunching and cocktailing over the weekend, I’ve was hard at work celeb-spotting at the Lincoln Centre (I spy: Carmen Electra, Kristin Bell, J. Lo, Bradley Cooper, Neil Patrick Harris, Aisha Tyler, Kelly Osbourne, Kimora Lee Simmons, Chris Bosh, Rebecca Romijn, Christina Hendricks, and so on, and so on), crossing Manhattan several times a day to attend the shows and trying to avoid the dreaded fashion week blisters that come with this job. Happily, Saturday was a sunny day in every way.

Blue skies and Lacoste first up on the schedule.  Creative director Christophe Lemaire nailed his version of sporty chic (lots of white, sleeveless polos, perforated short shorts and graphic prints) before heading off next season to Hermès.  Was the orange carpet rolled out at Lacoste simply a cheeky way of jumping onto the saddle, so to speak? Anna Wintour, according to eyewitnesses, actually looked happy. [The Cut]

The news on everyone’s lips right now is the break up between Hermès and Jean Paul Gaultier.  JPG is set to part ways with the fashion house after he presents his last collection for Spring 2011. The inevitable step has been taken to replace the late Alexander McQueen as creative director for his eponymous line. Sarah Burton, who’s worked by his side for more than 12 years will step up, and has promised to “stay true to [McQueen's] legacy.” [The Cut]

New York: Bright colour blocking at Lacoste

Comments

feb10lacostefw10_lg

Lacoste‘s colour blocking looked so fresh amongst all of the somber hues we’ve spied thus far. Sporty green looked perfectly suited alongside shades of cool violet. Reds ranging from pomegranate to cranberry were dominant and got in the game by way of a strapless ribbed knit tube dress. Quirky pompom accents on belts were rah-rah right on the money. Most covetable fall piece: rib knit leggings.
