With less than a month to Christmas, glitzy shopping meccas north and south of the border are pulling out all the stops while unveiling their eagerly anticipated holiday windows. From Lady Gaga’s poptastic takeover at Barneys New York, to the Bay’s old fashioned ode to holiday cheer, there’s lots to feast the eyes on before engaging in some major gift hunting.
While we don’t think that such creativity should be measured, we’ll just ask: which is your favourite?

In today’s GOOP newsletter, Gwyneth Paltrow gave readers a preview of the virtual Valentino museum that will open to the world on Monday. She also included an interview with Valentino Garavani and his business partner Giancarlo Giammetti, which discussed how the museum came to be, their inspirations, and little bit of coveted fashion advice from Valentino himself:
Q: What should a woman never wear?
A: “Lady Gaga’s clothes.”

Monday night Lady Gaga launched Gaga’s Workshop, her fifth floor takeover at Barney’s New York where her Little Monsters can buy exclusive Gaga themed gifts. To get in the holiday spirit, WWD sat down with Gaga to talk about her own traditions where she let us in on a little secret about Santa. (He really does exist!)
“I still believe in Santa. He’s for sure around. He and the Easter Bunny. I’ve hung out with them and Jesus Christ a few times.”

Famous for creating wigged-out costumes for Lady Gaga, designer and hairstylist Charlie Le Mindu often makes headlines for extremely avant-garde runway shows. (Think: nude models painted with wisps of hair.) So it came as no surprise when Le Mindu partnered with Minx for Spring 2012, delivering a collection of outfits and hairpieces constructed exclusively from more than 25,000 nail decals—in custom patterns, of course. While Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga were the big winners on stage at last night’s MTV Europe Music Awards, we have our top picks for best dressed on the red carpet. Singer Jessie J kept her typically ferocious look going strong with a black and yellow leopard print dress by Dolce & Gabbana—one of many outfits she wore during the night. Selena Gomez also made multiple outfit changes during the awards (9 to be exact!), but with good reason: she was hosting the show. We love her in this white long-sleeved minidress by Marchesa, it certainly pulls the focus away from those pesky rumours surrounding her boyfriend… Moving on! Katy Perry continues her retro-girl vibe with pink pin-up curls (we’re thankful she finally touched up her roots) and a Grease-worthy ensemble from Jeremy Scott’s Spring 2012 collection. The designer was also her date to the show. And model Bar Refaeli wore a custom-designed dress by Replay, which, if you like it, can be described as having an ombre waterfall hem. If you don’t like it, we’re not entirely opposed to the term “mullet dress.”

Known for her crazy outfits and antics—like showing up to the Grammys in an egg—we aren’t shocked by Lady Gaga’s cover for the newest issue of Visionaire Magazine. Styled by her BFF Nicola Formichetti, she appears as an oil-slicked mermaid—standard fare for the pop star, really. What is outrageous, however, is the magazine’s literal take on the issue’s theme of larger than life. The deluxe issue measures in at 5×7 feet (yes, that’s taller than the average human) and costs a cool $1,500. (The standard issue is a measly 3×4 feet in size, and much more affordable.) It should go without saying the size has broken a Guinness World Record. Read more »
