Sometimes all the makeup I want to wear is a sheer, natural-coloured lipgloss. Caryl Baker Visage The Lip Lift Gloss ($19 each, carylbakervisage.com) comes in three paraben-free shades for summer—a shimmery peach “Wish,” a matte coral pink “In the Sun,” and a sparkling bronze “On the Beach.” Not only does the gloss not feel sticky, its formulation is infused with filling spheres to smooth out fine line and it makes lips feel super soft.

Technology and I have not always had an easy relationship. (Our Facebook status would most definitely read, “It’s complicated.”) Sure, I’m grateful for modern medicine and air travel, but what about the night my laptop crashed mere hours before my essay on women in 19th century British poetry was due? I knew then that we were entering a rough patch.
