TIFF gallery: Rachel Weisz, James Franco et al trade interviews for gift bags at Holts’ Variety Studio
While Holt Renfrew didn’t have their annual film festival bash this year, they did try something new with the Variety Studio. The in-store area, heavily blocked off from snooping shoppers, was a hub for talent to come in and get interviewed for Variety.com–and get a little something something to take home. The full complement of talent who stopped by would be tiresome to list, but some that made us a little giddy were Marion Cotillard, Rachel Weisz, James Franco and Julian Schnabel. Take a look at the photos below–they’re almost enough to make us not yearn just a little bit for last year’s party.

TIFF party pics: Carey Mulligan, Marion Cotillard and James Franco at the Vanity Fair bash
The Thompson hotel hosted a blockbuster line-up of celebs last night for the Fox Searchlight/Belvedere/Vanity Fair party. Carey Mulligan arrived fresh from the Never Let Me Go premiere, sporting a starry Christopher Kane dress with a zip-on panel at the bottom. Though she was gone by the time we arrived, Marion Cotillard made an appearance, reportedly spending an hour and a half sitting in a booth looking gorgeous and nuzzling with boyfriend and Little White Lies director Guillaume Canet. Model and actress Clémence Poesy arrived in the uniform of a too-cool-for-school French It girl: A sequined Balmian jacket, black skinnies and flat suede boots. James Franco, Josh Brolin, Minnie Driver, Sam Rockwell, Hilary Swank, Juliette Lewis and British actress Lucy Punch, decked out in Louis Vuitton also popped by.

Even celebrity shutterbugs like George Pimentel, who spends more time on the red carpet than off, have shown their excitement about the impending migration of a-listers. Pimentel recently gushed about Natalie Portman, who will be in town for her newest darkest flick Black Swan, that she is “Bar none the most beautiful young actress in the business.” [Toronto Life]
