Naked & Famous celebrates 5 years with a covetable capsule collection for men

Naked & Famous Capsule Collection

We’re not ones to turn down a celebration, especially when it’s in honour of a cool Canadian brand. That’s why we’re currently all over Naked & Famous’s capsule collection designed for its five-year anniversary in the denim biz.

Sure, the pieces are men’s but we’re always up for the challenge of appropriating menswear for ourselves and if you’re a guy looking for a summer closet update, this is exactly what you need.

Since 2009, the Canadian brand has specialized in high-quality Japanese raw denim and now, designer Brandon Svarc has teamed up with Toronto denim mecca Over the Rainbow—located in Yorkville—to create an exclusive 10-piece capsule collection.

60 hours of male model goodness! We’re livestreaming Band of Outsiders’ “Longest Show Ever”

Comments

We already knew Scott Sternberg was a bit of a genius, but his latest stunt for Band of Outsiders is particularly so. The perennially cool brand has taken the spectatorship of fashion shows to a whole new level, putting one dapper and evidently cooperative model into a “small compartment built from cardboard boxes and wood planks adjacent to the window of an anonymous gallery in Paris” for the 60-hour “Longest Show Ever.”

Not only can those in Paris peek through a window in the studio space to check out what the model’s up to (and, of course, to see what Spring/Summer 2013 menswear look he’s wearing), but the rest of us can keep tabs on him throughout the show thanks to Band of Outsiders, which is livestreaming the whole thing. The show, which began today at 9:30 a.m. ET, will come to a close Friday at 9:30 p.m.

According to “The Rules” of the show, the model will leave every 90 minutes to change, get new props and thankfully, “to relieve himself every so often.” Props will apparently include a crappy old photocopy machine, a quotation icon rubber stamp, wooden hangers and an electric typewriter. Oh, and the model has to sleep in the compartment.

So far, the model seems to have kept himself relatively entertained, even sketching “buildings and people” according to the brand’s Twitter feed. We’ll be streaming the whole thing so check in every now and then!

They said/We said: The British Fashion Council has announced that a new menswear fashion week is coming to London

Good news for gentlemen everywhere—the British Fashion Council has announced the creation of a new menswear fashion week. Dubbed London’s “fashion long week(end),” the new shows will run for three days starting June 15 and also precede Milan and Paris men’s fashion weeks every January and June.

The planning committee, run by GQ editor Dylan Jones, has been under pressure to re-establish British menswear—the fashion long weekend’s previous incarnation as a one-day event lost buyers and press because it overlapped with the first day of Milan womenswear collections. This year there may still be some timing conflicts: the debut shows are expected to be a big to-do, as they’ll fall smack dab in the middle of the London 2012 Olympics hullabaloo. Read more »

Gary Oldman, Garrett Hedlund, Jamie Bell, Emile Hirsch, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, and Tim Roth walk Prada’s Fall 2012 Menswear show. But who did it best?

Miuccia Prada rounded up her men for Prada’s Fall 2012 menswear collection with a mouth-full of a title: Prada Presents: Il Palazzo. A Palace of Role Play.

In typical Prada fashion, there was plenty of pattern-on-pattern clashing, and ornate prints turned into football helmets—aboriginal headdresses upon closer inspection. This time, mixed into the model assortment were actors Gary Oldman, Garrett Hedlund, Jamie Bell, Emile Hirsch, Adrien Brody, and Tim Roth. (Who better to walk a collection based on role play?) Double-breasted suits and Hugh Hefner robes were the wears of choice, complete with a dangling pair of rose-coloured glasses (get it?).
