Jessica Chastain is stunning (as per usual) for YSL’s Manifesto fragrance

Comments

You can expect Yves Saint Laurent to pull out the big guns when it comes to fragrance campaigns (just think of Sophie Dahl’s infamous Opium ad), so it comes as no surprise that Jessica Chastain‘s campaign for Manifesto, YSL’s latest fragrance, is high-impact. Read more »

Chloë Sevigny fronts Miu Miu campaign for the second time. Which is your favourite?

Comments

Left: Chloë Sevigny for Miu Miu’s Fall 2012 campaign, Right: Chloë Sevigny for Miu Miu’s Spring 1996 campaign

The wait was worth it: after 16 years, Chloë Sevigny is reprising her role as Miu Miu’s girl-du-jour by gracing their latest fall campaign, shot by the Mert and Marcus team. True to Miu Miu’s Fall 2012 ready-to-wear collection, which was ‘70s-esque pantsuit-heavy, the Hit and Miss actress is decked out in a pair of printed pants, a checkered tie and platform heels.

Miu Miu said the campaign was intended to be “a gallery of portraits with a seductive, provocative attitude,” with hints of contrasts throughout. Sevigny’s sleekly mannish ensemble and slicked back coif definitely strike a masculine-feminine contrast with her exaggerated aqua eyeshadow and graceful pose. And that teacup is the perfect prop — we love how it gives the actress and all-around style icon an off-kilter femininity.

While we loved the stripped-down campaign of the then-22-year-old Sevigny shot by Juergen Teller in 1996, we think this more sophisticated look shows how Sevigny (who was already the epitome of girl-crush material in the ‘90s) has somehow evolved even more into her offbeat, inimitable style.

Downton fever! Jessica Brown Findlay and Rob James Collier (aka. Lady Sybil and Thomas) cover LOVE Magazine’s latest issue

If you’re even a fraction as obsessed with Downton Abbey as we are, then news that Jessica Brown Findlay and Rob James Collier (or, as we prefer them, Lady Sybil and Thomas) are covering Love magazine probably has you in a similar state of excitement. Love tweeted sneak peeks of the covers, which were shot by the Mert & Marcus team, and both stars look amazing. Collier is working a sultry, Marlon Brando-esque gaze, while Findlay looks like an ethereal, Bjork-inspired goddess. The issue, which will be on newsstands July 30 in the U.K. and later this summer internationally, marks the first fashion magazine cover a Downton Abbey star has graced, though we’re sure the Love covers are just the first of many to come.

If you’re one of the few who haven’t been bitten by the Downton bug yet, catch up on all our coverage of the series before season three rolls out later this year.

Just released: Givenchy’s Fall 2012 ad starring Stella Tennant makes us want to rave

Comments

Now here’s a rave we’d actually like to go to: a dancing Stella Tennant, thumping electronic music and a Givenchy wardrobe. Much more chic than the usual glow-in-the-dark sticks and face paint.

The fractured images of Tennant shimmying under a stormy sky in violet Givenchy are meant to capture the electric euphoria of a rave party, according to Riccardo Tisci.

“It is about happiness and the freedom of expressing yourself with your body. It shows a dynamic, happy and fun world, which is what fashion needs,” he told WWD.

The campaign was styled by none other than Carine Roitfeld and shot by the Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott team. Joan Smalls, Stef van der Laan, Daniela Braga, Simone Nobili, Jarrod Scott and Rodrigo Braga will also be joining Tennant as part of the “new Givenchy gang,” with images of the partying posse scheduled to appear in various glossies this September.
